As of late, I have been kicking the idea of doing something with my youth model 243win. Been thinking of the xlr industries chassis system and having it re chambered in either 7mm08 or 338 federal.

I've been out varmint hunting with my favorite rifles. 243 Ackley Improved, 1lbs Jewel HVT trigger, 28" Krieger Barrel, H&S Precision Stock with aluminum bedding block that I had milled and than steel bedded into the action. Action, bolt, recoil lug, and barrel were trued and tuned perpendicular to the bore. 85gr SGK, 3100fps, 3.5-15x50 NF NSX. Coyote/Dog Hybrid, called in with woodpecker in distress call. 190 yard shot placed reticle on his nose and blew off his jaw and punched into his chest.

223 Weatherby, factory trigger tuned to 2#, Marine Tex and Steel Bedded rifled action. 53gr V-Max 3250fps, 24.5 grs IMR 3031, 2.5-10x44 Vortex PST.
Coyote spotted sneaking away at 100 yards, 1st round in the left hindquarter. Spun him around and follow-upped with a 2nd round through the right eye. Internal pressure popped the left eye out of it's socket. This has been my primary varmint rifle the last 2 years. But, the 243 AI is in the game now!
I guess the pain in his *** wasn't as bad as the poke in his eye!

The 243 AI, I built sometime ago. I Fire formed factory Winchester 100gr ammo while building up enought brass to reload (500 pcs) I recently bought a Redding Competition Die Set and a neck sizing bushing. Worked up a several loads, tested then, and settled on 36.6grs IMR 3031, Coal: 2.627, 3100fps, groups at 100 yards .37 to .45 5 rd shots. So in the past three weeks I've taken 5 coyotes from 100 out to 350 yds with the 243 AI. All one shot kills.

None of the above. I went 284 Shehane for my big game rifle pushing 180 gr vld's. My deer and smaller is 6.5 slr-improved.

Not actually a rifle I'm converting my xp 100 to a rear grip 284 winchester. Should be complete within the month

I have been mulling it over and have decided to not get a new cartridge but rebarrel an old one and make a real screamer out of it. I have a practically new 223 WSSM that can not keep 1" at 50 feet. It suffers from "pencil barrel" syndrome. I have a nice #7 taper barrel for it and now all I have to do is put it on the gun and see if it has the accuracy that I need and want.
got out this last weekend to shoot my 270 Win.. now I am thinking of the 270 WSM after shooting one of a fellow shooter at the range.
stay safe, go armed always.

Since I'm on this site almost everyone praises the 7 STW, and I have to admit it's an awesome caliber, so.. :D In the course of the next 2 years I'm going to buy one, or have something else rebarreled. gun)
