I'm not into Texas heart shots but if he turned broadside during season, he would soon be headed toward the freezer.

I hunted a place where the home owner asked me not to shoot the 12 point on the property. Opening day I shot a buck when I didn't have a clear view of his antlers. When I walked up to him I was a bit freaked out thinking the worse but it turned out to be a very nice 8 point. He weighed in at 180lbs dressed

Yes I would shoot, but then again without ever hunting mule deer, I feel that would be a great first mulie.

Deer are like Frenchmen. screw and run. I'd have dropped it as well. I'm sure it had already 'freshened' quite a few doe.

I fondly remember my first trophy Mule Deer kill. He was busy 'spreading his seed, mounted on a doe and I waited until he was finished and dropped him on the spot. His copulation gave me plenty of time to get my aim and distance dialed in so it was a perfect kill shot.

Last thing that went through his mine was his experience with the doe and now he's hanging on the wall.

I have a dream, that one day, on my little 40 acres that I get to hunt in OK, that something like that walks out of the treeline..........very very unlikely.....but a guy can dream....and yes, I'd definitely shoot at it.

Subjective. If that is typical of the mature deer in the area I'd say no. If it is typical the buck will stay in the area, is on private land, I'd say no. If that buck is going to roam, if it public land, if it is not typical, I'd be hunting it.

Have you seen him from the front? All decent sized mulies look wide and good from the back. I suspect he is likely not as big as one might think, but he is far better than avg for CO. If you haven't taken a good mulie before and he is on public land, by all means should be camera down - trigger slow. Looks like he is in velvet which makes them hard to judge too. Regardless, a nice looking buck.

Would you shoot this deer or consider leaving it for seed for more like him in the future
? No right or wrong answer. I realize it could be a trophy of a lifetime. Just wondering what others might consider?

Deer on left way to young 2 - 2 1/2 years old maybe. Not good enough pic for deer on right to age him.

Not if you place it just forward of the left hind quarter. Now, if you pulled it left about 10" or so.....! memtb
