Wolves poisoned in Oregon

A cpl of years ago we were elk hunting in Northern New Mexico about 25 mile from the Colorado boarder and found 4 huge wolf tracks in fresh snow, going right through our camp one night. Later, while talking with game and fish, they denied that there were any wolves in that area (lies) we know what we saw. We figured that they wouldn't confirm it, because once its out that the wolves are the area, public outrage is going to far reaching, as that same federal forest land is used for cattle leases and summer grazing. They introduced the Mexican Wolf in the southern end of the state a few years ago and that generated huge controversy at the time.

SSS… every time….. Deer and Elk numbers are going to suffer and this is a direct result of Colorado's efforts as the Mexican wolves in the southern part of the state stay in the 🌵…..
Ive seen them here in NM GMU 52 as well. I imagine thats the unit or close to the one you are mentioning. By Cruces Basin. Game and Fish told us the same thing. We were hallucinating.....And of course they are rampant in the Gila now. Devastated the amount of elk from even ten years ago. BS

A rule that you have to demonstrate experience with the topic at hand before making definitive posts would go a lot further. A rule that requires you prove that experience with pictures/video... over some extended period of time.

The only issue with any of these topics that become heated, is the number of people participating that have no clue what they are talking about. If they had experience, they'd know how ridiculous they sound... but they don't have experience, so they think they can "fake it until they make it." They can't, and those with experience know it... so the experienced only get to choose from withdrawing, or fighting against the stupidity. Either way, the stupidity seems to win, because illogical people do not behave logically. Only an illogical person could ever think their inexperienced opinion should be worth anything, much less defending. So withdrawing and abandoning everyone here becomes the only viable option for an intelligent person to choose.

Those of you dealing with the wolf problem, I wish you all the greatest blessings. You're going to need it... because there is no shortage of illogical people that will smash their own ships on the rocks as long as it means sinking you too. Their need to win is greater than their need to pursue truth. There will be more of them every day.

The Guides that went BROKE, some of, the "good ole' boys" and Ranchers losing Stock / Dogs, etc. ( The SSS Crowd ) in Central Idaho, would cut the Collars OFF , put them in a Styrofoam Ice Chest then, Duct Taped the chest shut and Floated them down, a River so that, the "Tracker's" could see that, "they" were still,.. Moving ! We've LOST about, 60,000 Elk and the Limit on Wolves is NOW,..5 !!! As you can see, they are working out, real good, here AND,. The Elk hunting, in Central Idaho, STILL,.. sucks !
Dumbest thing to do is follow the old SSS crowd, nobody should never get close enough to "shovel", If ya do a SSS, make it a "SHOOT, SCOOT, STUT UP!

Wyoming had wolves on the south east side of union pass more than 20 years ago. There was a rancher complaining to the DNR about cattle kills the DNR claimed the wolves where not in the Dunoir station area when he told them he had a gun and a backhoe they came and found out they indeed made it that far my son and I almost hit two while going up the pass and this was more than 20 years ago

We have 3-4000 in northern MN and have zero luck trying to keep even an open season. We have way more wolves than the target number yet they drag wolf seasons in front of liberal judges who continue to rule against a season. We have had a couple seasons and I think we are at 3 judicial overturns at this point. Someone I know got a $3500 fine a couple years ago for whacking one in his backyard. In my 50 years of hunting I believe I've seen 3 while carrying a

Poisons are used everyday to effectively control unwanted pests. Bugs, mice and rats, wolves are no different. Hate to sound this way but it is what it is. There is no room for them in our ecosystems and there is a good reason they were eradicated before. Even Teddy Roosevelt seen this. Hasn't any of these "biologists" ever seen Jurassic Park? Just cause you can doesn't mean you should.
I have no problem shooting a wolf. But if you're going out and putting poison or traps out, I would very much recommend doing it in a place where there is zero chance that a dog belonging to someone like me might get a hold of it.

I agree that the use of such things should be done with care and not just willy nilly. The use of poison type traps for predators is fairly common by control workers in the west. Obvoiusly someones house pet is not the intended target for any type of trap but on the same token, if someones house pet is in the same area unattended, it is the pet owners responsiblity or lack thereof not the trapper.

Probably not a good idea to add a comment. I am eastern based in PA. I do enjoy hiking and hunting in the West.
My first and only elk hunt was near Yellowstone in MT a couple of years after wolves were introduced. At the time as I recall the party line for reintroduction was they would stay within the park of at least spread very slowly. Well that was not the case. We saw wolf tracks 15 miles from the park. Quite impressive. As big as a gloved hand. I listened to the guides complain.

Over the years I have followed the issue. The park has changed, whole states have changed and we still hear the same bull.

Unless you live out there and have watched the destruction from an agriculture or hunting view I am not sure we can really understand. Looking at it from the outside just makes me sad. All that seems to have been accomplished is to have replaced one artificial ecosystem with another artificial ecosystem.
