Winter projects

I do have a personal project that If I ever get time from other builds I will start on it. The project is a very accurate 22 Mag. sense building a 17 HMR I haven't had any rim fires as accurate so I decided to pull out all the stops and try to build a 22 Mag that is as or more accurate than my 17 HMR. Ammo used to be the problem with the 22 Mag but it looks like it has gotten better sense the introduction of the 17.

I know it's not a long range cartridge but I don't have much use for anything that is not very accurate. The best 100 yard groups to date with the 22 Mags have been between 1/2 MOA and 3/4 MOA. the 17 will consistently produce sub 1/2 MOA 10 shot groups.

The build will use a Anschutz action and a 24" Lilja I in 15 twist.
I will Build it like a high power rifle to give it every chance to be accurate.

I have been wanting to do this project for several years and hopefully it will be successful. And I might learn something in the process.

It didn't turn out to bad. Just have to get bases and rings and I'll be ready to go.

I bet....this has been a long road for my friend and I, started nearly two years ago. The final product is worth the wait though. I have been putting this together for my friend, he is currently in Afghanistan on an air base for the Army. Should be back around July....he can't wait for this next season, and I can't wait to have my hunting buddy back!!!!

I've got a Bartlein barrel and reamer for my Savage 300 win mag. Doing a shouldered barrel install. I have way too many home projects to finish before the little one arrives though...

Just completed a rebuild of my old trusty 5R. Took the old 308 tube off and replaced with new 6.5x47 Bartlein tube at 26 inches. Also, had the stock shortened to 13" LOP and repainted by HS Precision which they did a great job. Took it out today for barrel break in and it is showing phenomenal promise.

Having a switchbarrel project done by West Texas Ordnance... Bighorn Short action... 22-250 Brux Barrel; 6XC Barlein Barrel; 7mm SAW Carbon Fiber barrel... Also waiting on my Thunderbeast Can... 8 mos so far.

I've got to fit a Boyd's laminate to my Winchester M88. The original one cracked this fall on a hunt.
That seems to be common on those. All 3 of the 88 factory stocks I've owned cracked. The one I currently have was my Dad's, and he hand whittled the stock from a Walnut board with his hunting knife, took him all winter. Gotta be a pain in the tail with that bolt thru the butt stock. What caliber is yours ? Have you tackled the trigger? Talk about a labor of love ?

I was also thinking about a 6.5x47 to do the same with my burned out Milspec 308 that was an excellent shooter. Very interested to hear how your build turns out!
