Why shoot a sissy rifle?

He was in the Coast Guard which was assigned to the Navy during the War. He was on a DE, did 2 years in the North Atlantic on convoy duty. Then went to the South Pacific, was on many patrols, hitting small islands (many uncharted) looking for Japanese radio transmission units! memtb
That's cool! I don't hear of many story's of solders experiences in the South Pacific. Usually just over in Europe. My grandfather was in the 101st. Basically his discharge papers follow band of brothers to a T

I feel honored to share the name with him. Being a veteran myself, I have great respect for all who served.
My grandfather served in WWII but never had the pleasure of meeting him
My grandfather also served in WW2. He passed when I was about 5 so I don't really remember him other than him taking me fishing.
