Why shoot a sissy rifle?

Some folks find it easy to argue with simple things, like the world is round.
Well, let's give Creedmoor owners a little credit. They're usually the ones who are the "Flat Earther's" simply because their round doesn't have enough energy to make it all the way around the world like, say, a 300WM for example.

So I am curious, what is the makeup of a good sissy rifle? What is the description of said rifle? Is it caliber based? Is it bullet weight based? Is it powder charge case volume?
Asking for a friend - of course...
It is any rifle chambered for a newer cartridge design that somehow captures a significant portion of the market. The thought process is that the only way such a cartridge could capture a solid chunk of the market is because no-nothing youngin's from a softer generation can't properly understand that older chambering long favored by knowledgeable older shooters are better products ... in spite of what the market is saying.

It is all tied to that "love"/"hate" thing and the irrational attachments that many of us have with certain cartridges.

For the record, I am not one of those youngin's.

Yeah boy, love those 300 WM 's for a nice, easy shooting, relaxing day at the range. Of course, one can always put some big, honking brake on them, which also ensures that one can have a couple of bays vacant on either side!

In speaking only for myself…….I formed my dislike for the 6.5 CM simply because of the very aggressive marketing and the seemingly "cult like" following of the cartridge.

I will readily admit that, it is a superb cartridge offering very good accuracy and long range performance in affordable, factory rifles.

However, the internet and many forums (this one included) are loaded with praises for the 6.5 CM……some well founded and some bordering on the outrageous!

I guess that I just get annoyed with "cult worship"……any cult! 😉 memtb

Well said, brother. Totally get that.

Just a "weee bit" off topic, something we never do here 😁, I saw where you just responded to an older post of mine pertaining to "What's Your Favorite Cartridge"? I achieved my goal - 3020 mv with 3 shot groups running 1/2 to 3/4" @ 100 yrds.

I'm satisfied……it's just a hunting rifle, and it's use will never exceed 600 yards on a game animal! It and I have limitations…..unlike the 6.5 CM and some of it's "worshipers"! 🤣 memtb

Nice! That's a potent combination you got there for sure. And great shooting too. 👍🤜🤛

Sounds like we're back to 'don't ask don't tell' for the armed forces members. You can shoot your Creedmoor as long as you keep it to yourself, and they can't just come out and directly ask you if you do. Nothing sews distrust in unit quicker than finding out you have a CREED SHOOTER in the platoon...

Hmm.

I was probably just not really online that much in the immediate years after the cartridge was introduced, so for me the "cult like" thing doesn't resonate. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. I don't know.

These days the cult like behavior seems decidedly to be on the other side, though. The level of disdain and name calling is silly.
