Why shoot a sissy rifle?

Hmm.

I was probably just not really online that much in the immediate years after the cartridge was introduced, so for me the "cult like" thing doesn't resonate. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. I don't know.

These days the cult like behavior seems decidedly to be on the other side, though. The level of disdain and name calling is silly.
Good point. I like the 6.5 Creed for what it does. Now I said it. Just so everyone still knows all my mocking is for fun. Kinda like self-deprecating humor. 🤓

It is any rifle chambered for a newer cartridge design that somehow captures a significant portion of the market. The thought process is that the only way such a cartridge could capture a solid chunk of the market is because no-nothing youngin's from a softer generation can't properly understand that older chambering long favored by knowledgeable older shooters are better products ... in spite of what the market is saying.

It is all tied to that "love"/"hate" thing and the irrational attachments that many of us have with certain cartridges.

For the record, I am not one of those youngin's.
This says a lot, unfortunately I am not a youngin either, at least not on the outside...
You comment also makes a lot of sense and explains a lot.
I understand since I have been working on some 300WM loads and keep coming across the 300PRC on the internet and the discussion keeps going back to whether or not it's better than the 300WM.
My understanding is the PRC has a different chamber (throat) that allows for a modern bullet design (longer design for higher BC) that doesn't fit as well with the older Win Mag chamber. I kind of get that, but I like the WM and I will keep working to perfect what I have....

Being new to the forum I got that, I also have a 6.5 Creedmoor. I like what it can do, but I was also enjoying the humor around poking at it. My opinions keep developing the more I learn. I do like a lot of different calibers - they all have their places, even the sissy guns (lol)...

I will readily admit that, it is a superb cartridge offering very good accuracy and long range performance in affordable, factory rifles.
What in the world is going on here?
I sure hope that you have been drinking to make a comment like this. At least that would give a good explanation! 😀
I couldn't agree with you more.
