Why shoot a sissy rifle?

OK,when we are all in the confession booth, I will admit,my wife bought me one that was on clearance one day. I proceeded to remove the barrel and turned it into a 7-08. Not before I put 20 rounds through it. I think it was just the Butterbean stigma. Now I have a Ruger 7-08 that I would like to sell to give the CM another look at. I've had a 260 since 93 and it's been my go to. Just stayed away from the CM because I can't grow a man bun.


PS. I can't get into my skinny pants anymore either.

That's right, I birddog 68 shoot a sissy rifle. Not just any sissy rifle but a 6.5 creedmoor, the queen of sissies.
Some are afraid to mention that they shoot a skinny jeans man bun latte drinking rifle for fear that they will be ridiculed by their former friends. Not I.
I'd like to hear what brought others to buy such a sissy rifle ?

Just make sure the rifle is stamped "6.5 Rhino Blaster" and you're good to drop the manbun (not the skinny jeans unless you got others to replace)...

Just got back from the range went to help my son sight in his 6.5cm sig cross. I loaded up some 140 Nosler bt at 41 gr H4350. These shot well all touching. My son brought along a box of Hornady precision hunter 143 eldx to also try. These factory bullets shot the same all touching at a hundred yards. We allowed the barrel to cool down and shot again same thing all touching. I need up shooting ten rounds of this factory round and I'm amazed that they would shoot as good as hand loads. For Texas deer and pigs I think a 143 eldx bullet muzzle velocity stated at 2700 feet should be good to about 400 yards. For a 'sissy gun'I think it will work. To add he also put on his suppressor and the rounds hit the same. I shoot an old Sako deluxe 87 model for my skinny jeans shooter and a 30 Nosler for my big boy pants boom stick, and several in between. Lthink all of these will work. The 6.5 creed with the suppressed shot like my .223 ar. Just a slight push. If I didn't have a hole in the back of my head I would were a man bun and get me one of the creeds, probably a 6 creed.

I was looking for a rifle that would basically be a range rifle and was a little easier on my torn rotator cuff but wanted a bit more power than my 223 Remington. I wanted readily available brass and bullets and something that I wouldn't have to buy any powder that wasn't on my shelf already. The 6.5 CM checked all the boxes.
I ended up buying a Browning Xbolt western hunter last spring with a 24" barrel and yea it's even got a brake on it!
It's actually been boring working up loads for since it's shot everything good that I have tried so far.
I'm shooting 140 ELDM and 140 ballistic tip and have used IMR 4350, Ramshot hunter,W760 and staball 6.5 and it doesn't care what I fill the case with. It just shoots!
I'd like to hear what brought others to buy such a sissy rifle ?

Well, let's start out with the fact that I am a girl, so technically already in your thoughts, "A Sissy." I am not quite sure what qualifies as a sissy gun. I have rifles in 270, 308, 30-06, 300 WM, and 338 Win Mag. They have all been sissified to reduce recoil and all of them are out of the box and shoot sub MOA. The hardest kicking was a Browning AB3 Hunter, which, after a muzzle brake and Limbsaver recoil pad ended up with recoil similar to a normal 270. Next up is a Remington 700 in 338 Win Mag, again with a muzzle Brake and Limbsaver has less recoil than the 300 Win Mag did. (I no longer have the Browning 300 WM) It's recoil shooting 250 Nosler Partitions is somewhere between a 243 and a 308. Much of this reduction is due to weight. It tips the scales around 9 pounds with a Vortex 5 - 25 x 56 Strike Eagle. None of these are sissy guns, but with a bit of ingenuity can be sissified relatively inexpensively.

Just as a point of discussion, as many of you know, I am not a fan of the 6.5 Creedmoor. The 270 outperforms the 6.5 at hunting ranges out to around 600 yards. (My Tikka T3X consistently shoots sub MOA, around 0.5 or better with Nosler Partition 140 gr bullets) Since I only have hunting rifles, I do not need to shoot anywhere close to those ranges.

What is amazing to me is the number of people I have met that bought one based on the hype or what they had heard and had no idea what they were buying. These folks never shoot a deer over 200 yards but bought a Creedmore thinking it would blow the doors off of a 270 at the distances they hunt and shoot as flat as a laser beam to 600 yards. Of course it doesn't and it won't. When they finally figure this out they are disappointed. I know more folks in my area that have bought one and then sold it versus keeping it. Research was not their strong suit. What the Creedmore is is a well mannered, very accurate, light recoiling cartridge that is capable at long distance but is certainly not a powerhouse. It's a rifle pretty much anyone can handle and shoot accurately which is a big plus. Ammo and brass are readily available which is a very big deal these days. I like mine. It fills my niche. I do find it to be somewhat limited. Particularly with the 20" barrel. But I knew that going in. It kills deer and hogs just fine.

6.5 Creedmoor is in many respects wasted until you go over 600 or so yards and out.

At the expense of recoil and powder consumption, I agree.
.270Win w. 140gr over 54.0gr @ 3100
6.5CM w. 140gr over 42.0gr @ 2800

Out to 500-600, both are plenty for deer-sized game. The (I can't believe I am defending the CM) 6.5CM does it easier on the shooter in a modern cartridge. The .270Win does it with nostalgia and speed.

And at 1k the CM is hitting harder than the mighty 270 Win. Higher sectional density & BC with the same weight projo. Not sure why I'm defending it either.
