Again, a 243win is perfectly capable of killing deer, at ranges most have no business shooting.

A quick look on hornady 4dof at 7k ft of elevation a .243 108gr eldm hits 1800fps at around 900yds.

Very few live at 7k

1100 for me. In 0 Fahrenheit air (typical, gets a lot colder) the 108 at 2900 fps has slowed to the sub-1800 in less than 700 yards.

Oh man right!?!? A pointless cartridge that can accidentally be chambered in a .223 to boot…won't happen with a 7.62x39.

Doesn't help that it's designed to be run from the exact same magazines through the same kind of rifle as the 5.56. Not such a ridiculous thing to worry about happening…

The 243 Turdchester has a huge following, BUT, bullet choice in factory ammo was poor when I guided and saw lots of wounded animals. Most guys were buying the cheapest ammo which nearly always meant they were varmint bullets…they do not work on deer very well.
