What is your favorite bullets for hunting and target and why?

Being I've only used cup&core type, ( yes many tipped) Nosler Partition and Barnes, ( Barnes only on paper) I'm curious what's THE BEST or your favorite for game and paper/steel
I've had DRT's or short runs But didn't like some results due to high velocity @ closer distances

Barnes: Only enough on paper to do load development and recheck zero's occasionally. The only bullet that we (wife and I) use for hunting!

Oh wait……I use cast in my plinking/hunting handguns. Cast bullets for hunting ….. 400's in my S&W 460 and 430's in my Marlin GG in 45-70. memtb

Ever use the TTSX? I have A Bunch of Barnes factory loaded 280 REM 140 ttsx , it was a deal I absolutely couldn't pass

My wife uses 225 grain TTSX's in her .338 WM. For a while, I used 250 grain TTSX's in my .375 AI. Both worked very good for us.

I don't like light for caliber bullets, but the 250's had the best BC at the time for my rifle….I'm now running 270 LRX's, but, I haven't killed anything with them yet.

I loaded some 140 TSX's for my daughter's 270 Win. She doesn't hunt much, but has taken a couple of deer with it! memtb

Of course he did.
For paper I use ELDM and Berger
For hunting I use Nosler ballistic tips for whitetail locally and use accubond for my western hunting.

I'm glad they made the ballistic tip tougher. The early ones KILLED but omg whatamess
Hit a big doe once at last light , shot her in the shoulder, the off shoulder was Dog food. I heard other say the same about the early BT's

My only experiences with the BT's, were the early productions from high velocity rifles. They were just as you said. I swore off of them, and never gave them another chance!


After being steered toward the Barnes X Bullets, the original pre-groove bullets in the early '90's……I was so satisfied, that I've never had a desire to try anything else! memtb

I never had experience with the earlier ballistic tip but heard they were explosive.
I've only had great results from them and at one time decided to try something else. Something else worked for a couple years and then it didn't so switched back to the ballistic tips and have been happy happy happy!

Last winter I loaded my last cheap box of .308 165gr BT bought for 13.95 $ ️ I had a huge stockpile from lmao 30 years ago
I switched some to SST's, a good bullet, but not at 3000 plus , 100 yards or less, at 7-08 velocities they are great

Well, as much as it sounds like a broken record…
Bergers are still in my opinion one of the most absolutely consistent and accurate bullets on the market.
I have had my ups and downs with them on Game Performance, but they are consistent.
Nosler Partition and Accubonds will absolutely hammer anything you shoot with them.
I prefer the original Barnes X over the TTSX
Hammers shoot very well and definitely work, not the best BC but in the overall reality of hunting if your shooting past 600 yards there's better options.
And then there's the old tried and true Sierra Match King….. if you can't get a rifle to group with a Sierra Match king, you better just throw it in a dumpster and light it on fire.

Berger any type have taken elk deer and antelope with OTMs Target VLDs and The Elite hunter. Shoot great and have yet to have an animal walk away from them

Speer btsp is m'y go to un any cal. Have tested Them on papier Up to 600yrds ans IT moore than enouf for hunting. Have kill game Up to 200yrds and they do mess inside.
Eld-x are great to, dropp a 225 pound Bear on spot with Them.

Aim for the lung and you will be fine art any range.

I used Hornady 53 gr Match in the. 223 (5.56X45) on the reduced courses and the Hornady 75 gr hpbt Match at 300 yds and 600 yds for service rifle matches. For the M-1 Garand I used Sierra 125 gr st and 150 gr st for John Garand Matches and 168 gr Sierra hpbt Match for 300 and 600 yds. For hunting I mostly use Speer and Hornady in various calibers, the Hornady Interlocks and Speer Hot Cors have worked very well for me on deer, elk, and bear, the Speer stbt and the Speer Mag Tip have been excellent over the years but I'm not sure they make the Mag Tip anymore.

Being primarily a Deer Hunter, I like Nosler BT,s & Sierra Game Changer,s. Accurate & deadly ! D.
