I'll make this post for my wife, she's made much longer shots on much larger game…..but, this one actually impressed me the most.
I was at work and my wife could hear our Black Lab out in the dog run throwing a fit. The Lab was looking out toward the gravel road than ran in front of our house.
Initially she couldn't see anything, but then saw it. A Fox was in the ditch, and would occasionally peek over the ditch bank to look at the Lab. This is when the Lab would start barking.
My wife went to the safe, grabbed her Ruger 77/22 ….I think she loaded it with Remington Golden Bullet HP's. She waited until the Fox ducked down, stepped out onto the front porch and waited for the next "peek a boo" event.
She was ready with a good rest using one of the porch roof posts. When the Fox's head popped-up……she tapped it "right between the lookers"!
It was only about a 70 yard shot, near perfect placement (about 1/4" off of dead [pun intended] center) on a target that would only present itself for a few seconds before ducking again! memtb
