What is the best tasting deer species? I eat mostly whitetail because that is what I am able to hunt the most frequently. But I have had buddies that calm mulies are more gamey. I'm not sure if it is their prep or the deer have a gamey taste. What is y'all's opinions.
For myself I've killed and eaten Whitetail,Black Buck,Elk,Moose Axis and SITKA and the lastwo are my favorite.
But Sitka is Hands down my favorite. The others are not even a close 2nd.

Never shot a 200# dressed deer until we moved here. We weigh every deer as part of butchering. When you are standing over one and hoping you can drive truck up to it is when you realize how big they get. Our biggest dressed weight is 247 that my son shot. Crazy when hanging off his garage rafters, still touching floor! Roped up head to get true weight.

Pronghorn that lives where there is nothing but wheat fields as far as the eye can see it's very much on the top of my list. Pronghorn that lives where sagebrush is prevalent are the very bottom of my list.

I think the best steak I may have ever eaten was from a big old bull cape buffalo tenderloin. Cooked on a fire in a remote camp in South Africa. Unbelievably tender and great flavor.
