What is everyone favorite caliber for deer?

25-06, 257R, 250 savage, 6.5's,270, 280,7mm-08 you can throw them all in a bag and shake them up and they all have sufficient ballistics to take a white tail at any distance 95 % of us are capable of shooting with the right bullet choice. With that said a 243 has taken more whitetail in this household then all other calibers combined.

I've used 30-06, 35 Remington, 308, 7RM, 7WSM, and 338WM. My son has used my 223 and 6.5x47L. Of those, the 7RM was my favorite for deer/medium size.

It used to be the .243, then I moved up to the 7mm-08. That one still is but I just got a 6.5 CM so its time to see how that one will fare. I'm sure any deer wouldn't know the difference between either of them.

Got a lot of rifles, but I always grab 1 during gun season. Tikka t3 stainless 308, 165 ballistic tip and varget. So much confidence just point, squeeze, gut, drag, repeat.

Depends where, how and what kind of weather I am hunting in and if it is just for horns or a meat hunt. Love my 223.--but when it's windy or I am horn hunting I usually grab my 30/06 or 7 mag. This year most of not all hunting will be done with a 22-250.

I've always been suspect of using a .22 caliber for deer even with the heaviest bullets available. I know of a few guys out west that used .223s on mulies! I just can't buy into that idea. 6mm caliber is about as low as I would go personally.

They aren't for everybody. You have to be patient and pick your shots. All my shots with 223 are with a 50 grain v-max to the throat patch. Lots of opportunity where I hunt. They drop instant when you break their neck.
