Ultimate Sheep Rifle Build

That seems like a solid combo to me. I'd be interested to know how you can get 2850 out of a 20" barrel with 190 grain bullet. Seems like you might have some experience, or research on this? Not questioning whether you can do it or not. It's just that I have a similar build going right now for an elk rifle. Defiance Ultralight Action with Proof 20" barrel in 300 WSM and I was hoping for 2750 with 200 grain AB or ELDx bullets, but was worried I might not be able to get to that velocity.
Were you able to get those velosities out of it? I have a new 300wsm with 20" proof carbon fiber barrel and deviant action and the original owner said he was getting 3050 with 178 eld.

I haven't quite gotten the load I want yet. I was able to get 2800 with 200 Eldx and RL19, but the temp sensitivity was terrible. Saw the velocity drop about 100 fps between 50 degrees and 0 degrees. Not good enough for a LR hunting rifle.

Then tried 178 eldx with N560 and got 2960 fps. But again, extreme temp sensitivity and high SDs with low temps in single digits.

Guess I will try H4350 next. I'm done with the temp sensitive powders.

What powder was he using to get the 178 over 3000?

He said 178gr ELD-x, 65.5gr of hybrid 100v average speed of 3050. Sub .5" groups.
I don't load so considering selling my build from him while it's new and under 40 rounds. After listening to guys that shoot long range I don't want to mess up my rifle cleaning it wrong or shooting the wrong stuff in it. Beautiful rifle but I'm not experienced with bolt guns.
Here is mine.

30 Hammer,
VERY nice choice of components. And THE best .30 cal. magnum cartridge.

My 6.5 CM Browning X-Bolt Pro has many of the features of a good sheep rifle at 6 lbs. 1 oz. but with sling and scope it is 8 lbs. Your CF stock must be lighter than my Browning CF stock.

BTW, my X-Bolt Pro has a similar color (burnt bronze) Cerakote finish to yours.

My stock is 5 layers of hand laid then an ultralight fill. About 20 ounces inletted.

30 Hammer,
Interesting CF stock on your stick - and spendy I'll bet.
Browning uses a "compressed foam core" with two CF socks (not laid-up strips). One "sock" covers the forearm to the top of the pistol grip and the other covers the butt and pistol grip. They meet and overlap at the top end of the pistol grip. Browning calls it a "360 degree wrap."

Meant to say thanks but the way but was working eating and messaging :).

My buddy builds these locally. I like that it's a full size stock.

Hearing great things about those Browning's.

30 Hammer,
Please post load data and an accuracy report after you've had a chance to put the rifle through the paces. Looks great!
