Thoughts on 264WM vs 6.5 PRC for new rifle build/buy?

Cause I have a long action Savage as a donor candidate, and I have several hundred brass for 264.

If I was going at this from scratch, I'd likely ignore all the long action 6.5s and go with the PRC, which is pretty much ideal for my needs.

I have a similar donor (Savage 111F) and considered the 6.5 PRC and 6.5 WSM but went with .264 WM with 26" 1:7" 5R instead.

What barrel did you get, how does it shoot, and what kind of speeds are you seeing?

Pre-fit from x-caliber. Unfortunately, I have not headspaced it yet, school has been taking most of my time. :(

I originally going to use bugnut (http://www.bugholes.com/product-p/bug-nut-1.06-16tpi-1.20b.htm). I did not realize (my bad) it but was meant for a 1.2" OD shank instead of 1.06" so there's too much gap and went with PVA's (https://patriotvalleyarms.com/barrel-nut-for-shoulderless-barrels/) instead.

The wm manuals are anemic! People have been shooting the 140's up to 3300' in the WM for 50 years.
The prc, on the other hand, is loaded to potential.
Correct, the 264WM data has always been way off, that has happened with other cartridges as well for different reasons. And yes, several lately have gone over 3300 with the WM, esp. with RL 33 & 3200 is quite easy.

Is H1000 on the fast side for 264WM? I buy it by the jug for my 300WM. Would be sweet if it worked well in 264. Based on Hodgden/Noslers data, max loads don't seem to fill the case with what I think of as "Slow Burners". Retumbo isn't even compressed for a 140 partition. Am I gonna need some US869 or 50 BMG (mostly kidding).

Make it easy, if you build a gun go 264 Win Mag and if you buy a rifle do the PRC. Both will give you the performance you want and both cases will work with H1000 and a 140gr bullet, so that's not an issue.

H4831SC works good for the sub 140 gr projectiles.
My experience, For 140 gr and above weight, it's Just right actually. H1000 works quite well in the 264, as does RL26, Retumbo, RL33, and soon to find out how IMR8133 does.

My 264 takes about 63 to 64 gr H1000 (depending on lot #heat) to get a 147 up to 3100-3150 FPS.

Some "ballpark" figures for you in my 264 with 147 gr. Eldm
74 gr RL33 3214 fps
64 gr H1000 3150 fps
64 gr RL26 3150 fps

What's your barrel length, manufacturer, etc? Like to have as much info as possible with data.
