The Facebook crazies

Two years ago at my club and there were 3 people at a nearby bench, oldest maybe 20 and couple of teenagers. They went crazy with a short barreled AR and covered the ground with brass (and probably wore out the barrel). When they ran out of Ammo, someone produced a lever action rifle, brand spanking new. The oldest took over since he was the most knowledgeable and spent maybe 15 minutes trying to figure out how to load it since it did not have a bolt or a magazine feed before coming to me for help.

saw a guy while duck hunting on a freezing cold day. he was sitting by a fire and had his shotgun barrel in the fire. l asked what are you dooing. and he replied : the weather is cold so lm worming up my barrel so l can shoot further. l saw him hit one at around 100 yards that day..!!!!

pet peeve:

people referring to bullets as "tips" and cartridges as "bullets"
Are you serious? I've never heard anyone refer to bullets as "tips"... That's just retarded. Then again, what isn't these days?

People have become so **** ignorant that it's almost funny, until you realize that it's real life. Then it's just becomes depressing watching the downfall of intelligence and the free-thinking human being...

While BS ing at the local range, a new shooter was asking for advice on wether he should get a fixed power or variable rifle scope. Another shooter proceeded to explain to him that Leupold was the only brand of variable scope available that wouldnt change point of impact as the magnification was changed .
Wow.......

yep, that's always been one of Lay-o-pold's biggest selling points. Because they're a quality German scope made right here in the USA.
[sic]

Just saw another one today.
"30-06 for white tail is like shooting fish with a bazooka, go to a much lower velocity in order to get expansion"
Yes everyone knows that if velocity is too high the bullet or should I say tip won't expand until it almost through the animal usually upon exit. o_O

Guy on a hunting page on facebook said his buddy killed a whitetail doe at 962 yards with his 6.5 Creenmoore. I responded wow hell of a shot. He responded his buddy shoots alot and can put 10 shots one after another into one hole at 100 yards.

Only 10 shots?

Here's one of my targets at 100 yards with my .308 Win...Shooting off of sandbags, and nothing else. It's a 12" target, with a 24-shot hot-lap group with no breaks between shots, other than to single-load the rifle and readjust my sight-picture. If I hadn't had that 1 flier to the center-right (very last shot, and the sunlight flickered as it went down, and I pulled it), it would be less than 1" center-to-center.

It's the same target in my profile picture, but before I wrote all over it.

It's not the cartridge, as much as it is the supporters that have created this situation of hate. Same thing with Savage rifles. It's not that they're bad guns, it's that the supporters have created this fake level of superiority by putting everybody else's products down. I gather my own info based on personal experiences as to why I don't like Savages, and that's because I personally packed up and shipped back more of them than any other brand of rifle, for repair or replacement for customers, back when I worked at the gun store. That's why I don't like them. The supporters talking crap about Remington all the time, when they're gun is a 90% ripoff of a 700 action, is also pretty annoying.

Back to the Creedmoor... It's because every idiot and their brother who knows nothing about guns, owns one so they can feel cool. Cartridge performance aside, it's become a trend to own a 6.5 Creedmoor. Which is why I started calling it a "hipster cartridge" years ago. It has become a trend, just like hipsters are. And hipsters look retarded dressing and acting the way they do, and they're complete ironic hypocrites, and that's why everybody makes fun of them.

The Creedmoor also gets alot of hate, because people have created this false mystique about the 6.5 Creedmoor as if it was designed by God himself and handed down to Thor for him to forge with his hammer from unicorn horns and King Midas' leprechaun rainbow gold. As if you can go buy one off the shelf, slap on a high-powered optic, buy some Hornady match ammo, and drive straight to your local 1K range, and hit on the first shot, despite having never shot over 100-200 yards in your life, prior to owning your new Creedmoor.

It's the same with everything these days, it's like 90% of the world is completely uninformed morons. False advertising, participation trophies, fake news, and BS late night TV show hosts spouting mass amounts of bullcrap have made them this way. They think they can go buy a $3,000 Gibson Les Paul and immediately start playing like Slash... Or they can go buy a Ferrari, and immediately start driving like Mario Andretti... It's like 90% of the world has cognitive failure of logic and reasoning.
Nailed it. Especially the the Creedmoor guys shooting RPR's saying Remington's are junk

Another one is the 1/4 bore fan boys. I had a guy try to tell me his 257 Roberts AI would spank a 6.5 at 800 yards. The 25 cal guys think they've got the hammer of Thor
That's actually very possible. Being a 257 ackley can exceed 25-06 speeds. With a 115 grain Berger at 3200fps. It would be flatter than a 6.5 with a 140 at 2800 and probably have as much or less drift.

High bc bullets for 25cal are not possible in standard 10" twist. Just in this LRH community there has been a cry for a long 25cal bullet. Many guys saying they would rebarrel for one. We designed it and made it. Then we heard crickets. It is evidently more fun to complain about it. Kinda like the facebook crazies.

Steve
How many grains are those 257 bullets? I'm kicking around the idea of building a fast twist 257 Roberts AI right now.
