Just ordered some 121 Hammers. Hope to get them shooting well enough really quick. My baby girl has a deer hunt coming up in a month that requests the use of non-lead ammo.
Lance. If it's anything like developing a load for my 6.5x47 with 124 HH it won't take you long. Six shots and I was done. I was shooting 130 gr Accubond with 41.5 gr H4350. Loaded the Hammers 20 thou off with the same powder charge. Took six shots and put the gun away. Almost seems to easy.
Update, Removed my 25SST from the mpa chassis and put it in my manners eh-1. Rifle and scope weigh 10lbs now. Rifle season is almost here so I zeroed at 100 this morning then took it to 1000 yards for some cold bore practice. Wind was 3mph at 10cl I dialed .75moa right and sent it. Bullseye
Not bad but went back to see if I could do it twice, as my first shot was from the truck bed with my feet up on the tool box and I just didn't feel as solid as I would like to be.
Painted the target and drove back to the 1000 yd mark. I got on the ground this time with a more solid set up. The wind picked up to 6mph so I dialed 1.5 right and sent another one, even with mats down I got covered in fine dust but o well. Wind died down as I shot so it went about 1moa right but elevation was good, just a tad low. Always enjoy cold bore practice right before the season. If wind allows I'll get some more in this evening.
I'm still running the 131s at 3220 with 58gr of h-1000 and the barrel has over 700 rds through it now.
.
The cartridge is based on a SAUM case slightly shortened and has a slight amount of case taper removed with a 30 degree shoulder. Case length is 1.950"
The idea/goals behind the case design are to run high bc bullets seated long to get the bullet out of the powder column, fit in a standard short action mag, feed smoothly, and produce near magnum velocity's in a short efficient package. Along with staying just under PRS velocity limits with mild loads.
I got them up to 3350+ @ 61.0gr with 0 pressure, but the H1000 was compressed, so no more case space to go further. Group size didn't open up a bunch, every load was between .22 to .58 MOA.
Well my sister in law got her first coues today at 620 yds! Girl can flat out keep her cool, listen to call outs and SHOOT! I've shot 5 coyotes with this thing in the last week now also from 250yds to 820yds (longest shot ever on an animal). This thing is about as easy to shoot stuff with as any rifle I've ever shot! Shooting the blackjack at 3213fps with 60.6grns of n565 still in new brass from the 24" bbl. 82 shots down it now.
