The 25 sst...up and running

Thanks Rich, I may switch to the .030 bit it will makes things a little easier because some of the meplats are closed in more than others at the tip. I think trimming would help but I don't have the equipment to trim the meplats so il see how opening the tip does first.
The bucks are chasing hard down here, I'm ready to get back out as soon as I can. It's worth noting also that as the bullet entered the hog it went in between the ribs. If the bullet had struck a rib upon entering I may have had a different result.
Agree but cant count on hitting a rib. It should open on tissue if its right.

I did a little looking around the other day with the same idea of trimming but didn't find anyone that made 25cal tooling. I've never trimmed so I don't really know anything about it but I agree that I think it would more than likely help.

Sorry for the delayed response. Been really busy lately. Creedmore sports didn't have anything in 25cal. They told me to contact mcr directly to see and I just haven't gotten it done yet I did however this afternoon, open the tips on a few blackjacks to .040". My Milwaukee cordless drill won't come close to holding the bit so I did it in two steps with the pen drill holder that came with the set. .030" and then stepped it to .040". Getting .040" started by hand didn't work too well is why I piloted it first.

Pretty sure that will help!

Bullets look good. Has anyone heard any news on the release of the blackjack hunting version? Thought it was suppose to be released this fall. Wanting to build a fast twist 25 cal but really don't feel a guy should have to open tips.

I dont have concrete knowledge of this but I think you will see high high b c, heavy for caliber bullets by spring.
Im expecting that something might even come our of the shot show.

They still killed in stock form. I don't want to get the notion out there that they're a total no go for hunting. I just didn't see as much expansion on the small thin skinned stuff shot with mine as I wanted to see. I feel a larger and slightly tougher animal would probably serve to open the bullet a little better. Hopefully though, opening the tips makes it a little more violent.

Same here on the 200lb boar I shot, but a lil more expansion would be better.
A .036 bit will chuck up in my dewalt drill so il open up a few more tips and try that. I go off after today so il get the chance to do some hunting the next few days.

You must be a Master Craftsman, good job keeping the front-end balanced to the weight behind it.

Invested a little time today to work up a load with the 121 Hammer. I loaded the bullet to the lands w/215 primer and N565. The pics will say it all. These are 59-62gr. The faster I pushed them the tighter the group got! I settled on 62gr cruising at 3375' S/D 4.8
The kitty fell at 204yds to this laser beam!
