Texas made monolithic bullets ...

You need to let the Hammer hate go, Bro! I was once told that hate is like holding onto a rattle snake, just gonna hurt you and everyone around you!
Poor analogy, I've held a lot of rattlesnakes over the years without one of them hurting me.

For most of my life we had more rattlesnakes than hogs in this part of the world. Thankfully the pigs like to eat rattlesnakes.

Hammer has not set the standard for Mono Performance. The owner who is a regular member here did a smart thing and put a whole lot of them in the hands of people here to shoot and discuss so here at LRH there are lots of people shooting and comparing others to them.

He makes a good bullet and stands behind his work and was smart in his marketing but let's not try to make them into something they are not.
I'd have to say we can give credit to Barnes for their pioneering of the mono. Right?

My minister said that in church one Sunday, I liked it. It was to illustrate a lesson I recall. Most people can't do what you can accomplish apparently.

I guess we will see won't we?

I don't have anything bad to say about steve. He was great to work with when I was using his bullets to work up a load.

I am just saying you guys need to stop taking things so personal. A guy posts some info on a new bullet and you hammer boys act like he spit in Steve's face. Its got to stop guys, at what point does this behavior hurts Steve's business more than it helps?
I'm going too drive too Conroe this week when I have time it's about 20 minutes from me and I'll report back the availability and Choices of the Texas made monos

I am not sure about their business goal/strategy. I have 1:9" in one of my .30 Cals. and will get going 1:8" when one of the other .30 Cals is due for a re-barrel.
All of mine are 1:9 I think. I was thinking myself of going to a 1:8.5 for the future.

The future is longer and heavier bullets so anyone rebarreling today should probably consider going at least 1 turn faster than they were planning on to start with.

Inevitably sooner rather than alter all public land hunts will require Mono's, might as well be ahead of the curve rather than left behind wanting.

Most sane people would not attempt many of the things I've had to do in my life.

Very few have also never made a living snake breaking dogs using live rattlesnakes they had to catch and defang themselves either.

There were times I would catch and defang a hundred or more per year for other trainers because they were afraid to attempt it.

Actually they originated in Africa with Dangerous game hunters wanting a bullet that would not deform and would track all the way through six feet of cape buffalo, or through five or more feet of bull elephant without deforming on a consistently predictable path.

Barnes may not have been first in the US, but they certainly were the first to commercialize them nationally in a big way.

That's the kinda boss hog, legendary, true grit stuff I'm talking about right there! You are a clear exception to that lesson. SO, I'll do my best to put a spin on it that could apply to you. "Don't hold onto a firecracker after you've lit it." Nah, too watered down. "Don't sleep on a land mine!" 😄 😄 😄

sleeping on the land mine isn't the problem.

The problem starts when you get up.

I think you and feenix missed my point. It was not to say hammer is the gold standard just to point out that on this site every mono will get compared to a hammer. Don't care why, that's just what happens. So they will get compared to them as the standard.
Both you assumed it was my standard.Which it indeed is because it over the several hundred animals I've taken with them I've not found one that's better so it indeed is my gold standard But nowhere did I say it was a definitive standard. Although it could be argued.
My post before this clearly states my intentions.

We've learned over a quite a long time. You're new and welcome but there's a time to sit back and learn and not cast aspersions.
I am sooo sorry. I didn't realize who's company I was in. I'll sit back and shut up learn from those that are so much more knowledgeable than I am.

Could you point to the part I acted like that? I simply was skeptical about new bullets just as we all should be. If this was not directed toward me than my bad. But I haven't seen anyone post anything actually saying bad things just wondering if the new options will be as good or better than what they love. That's where I come from.
