Short barreled rifles

Well I always roughly judge about 25-50 fps per inch loss or gain depending on barrel caliber and powder. It all depends on distance you want to shoot.
I know my setup is a 500 yard rifle as at that range I have enough velocity to open that bullet. I run a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 and it is the fastest point and shoot combo going. Wind holds are perfect for 10mph wind also with that load. I do like a creed though but I got this rifle cheap and couldn't pass it up.

Several of my rifles have barrels of 20" or less, the shortest being my Ruger Scout .308 with a 16.1" barrel. It loses about 170fps compared to factory specs but is still lethal WAY beyond iron sight range, which is what I bought it for. Great little rifle.

SIL's .30-06 (a wedding present from moi), has a 20" barrel. I love that thing.
