I'd say a 16" 338 Federal would be sweet for such a setting.
I/4 of fly groups. Keep the rifle and the recipe. You are obviously doing something very right.I run a 20" 6dasher 18" .308 18" 6.5cm no issues all under .5 at 200
4831sc in an 18" 260. Small flash and a velocity of about 2564fps with the 140gr Nosler Custom Competition.I'm just beginning load development with my son's 18" 6.5 CM...some have suggested the faster burning powders in the shorty's...anybody want to give up what powder you're using? I'd sure be interested to learn! Thanks
I like RL26. I am running 2800 with a 140 ELDM in a 20" proof. It's hot load, used in the winter. I have a tamer load at 2700 I can use in hotter weather and shows no signs of pressure up to 100F.I'm just beginning load development with my son's 18" 6.5 CM...some have suggested the faster burning powders in the shorty's...anybody want to give up what powder you're using? 16" creed moor will be better that a 20+" 308Thinking about a .308 with an 18 or 20 inch, Proof Sendero contour and running an Omega 300 on it for all around hunting. Any preference over which length?
I'm running a 20" CTR in 308 with can. I have been cutting barrels back shorter and shorter as time goes on legally of course. BTW I'm shooting 180gr AB and they hammer everything. Longest shot was an antelope at 423 so farThinking about a .308 with an 18 or 20 inch, Proof Sendero contour and running an Omega 300 on it for all around hunting. Any preference over which length?
