Remington vs Custom/7mm vs. 300/What would you do?

Pick ur best scope and sell the other rifles and buy a 5r milspec Remington 300win then u have a $1300 rifle that performs like a $3500 custom

The difference is the 5r barrel I have both sendero and the 5r. Senderos have 6 groove barrel 5r is 5

I could be wrong, but I thought all Sendero's had a 26in barrel. All I've ever seen has had a 26in barrel. I still say that out of the box an on a budget a Sendero is the way to go. As far as caliber it's up to the shooter.

Senderos do have 26" barrel and I believe are all long action calibers 5r comes with 20" and 24" barrels

You are right as far as the action. Guess I've been out of the loop to long, but what is a 5r. That's a new one on me or I've seen one and didn't know what it was. Thanks!

I am definitely looking into the sendero, 5R win mag, and building custom on the rem700 action I already have and it brought me to this question: will I be able to shoot the 30cal Berger bullets i.e. 200gr on up vld bullets or will they be too long with these actions? Let me know if I am not understanding this correctly. I will shoot factory ammo for the short term but will reload in the future and want to use the vld bullets since I have read and seen good things about them. Thanks for all the help guys

From what I have read they only allow 500 to the public and I've only seen them sold to certain dealers and the barrel goes threw tests and if it doesn't meet that spec it goes in the ( no go pile) u can't even see a 5r on remingtons website every 5r I've seen or shot have shot atleast 1/2 inch at 100yrds I've seen 1/2 inch at 200yrds out of my 308 and also the 5r 308 has a 1-11.25 twist just for miltary match loads (168,175) bullets I also own a sendero I had it glass bedded and trigger work and it still won't touch my 5r will not go wrong with this gun. Get on the interent like google or sniperhide or sumthing like that and look 5r milspec up and read for urself I bought one and it was all true as of what I read about them.

You soundnt have any problem loading the 200 grain VLD in 30 cal. 7mm mag an 300 win use the same action in a Remington 700. If at some point in time you build a custom rifle you can get your smith to order a reamer specifacly for the type of bullet you are going to shoot(ie Berger, Amax, etc!) long throat, etc! I still say you will be money ahead to go with a Sendero to start with! Just my input! Hope this helps!!

Oh!Ok!! I know what you are talking about now! I've seen them at the range an two buddy's of mine have them. One in 308,other in 300 win. They are simaler to one of my 7mags! One of my model700 is known as a remington 700pss(police sniper system) its the civilian version of a M24 sniper rifle! Only the Secret Service use them in a 7mag an all other branches use 308 or 300 win mag! Thanks for the lesson!

Yes! Lineman, you are right! Simalar, yet differant! Both are very accurate! Mine shoots under1/2moa at 500! 168 Berger 3100 fps! 180 Berger same results! Either way very good rifles!!!

I just joined the other day, and had to get in the fun. I have several senderos, and have been able to make them all shoot 3/8" and on a good day, one hole groups. A accurate load, and playing with the bedding tension screws make all the differance. You can't go wrong with a sendero.
