Reloder 26

Not in a 300 win mag, but in a 7mm mag with 180 Bergers I have. The H-1000 and RL-26 were very similar in accuracy at 100 yards, from .3 MOA to .6 MOA in a factory Remington, but with the RL-26 I reached 3023 fps and still wasn't getting over pressure signs, with the H-1000 I was seeing over pressure signs at 2980 fps, and also H-1000 had terrible E.S. numbers, 30 fps on the low end, and 50 fps on the high end, with only 3 rounds...but the RL-26 had a low E.S. of 7 fps and a high of 13 fps. That is just my experience in one rifle with one bullet type in a 7mm mag.

Mirrors my experiences exactly, except I'm running RL26 and H1000 in a 300 win mag pushing the new Hornaday 225s.

Still working up to pressure, started way low, but RL26 was consistently better than H1000 in my rifle. Sds are in the single digits with es running low double digits to high single digits. H1000 was Sds of 30ish and es of 60-70 in most of the loads. Not sure if that will settle down once I get into a better node but so far it's not looking great for H1000..

Best groupings with each powder were around a third of an inch at one hundred.

Specs:
Factory remington 700 long range in an XLR Carbon
Virgin nosler brass, no prep
CCI 250s

I shot my 6.5 Creedmoor again a few days ago but had to change brass because I was piercing the small rifle primers in Lapua brass with the large firing pin in my Remington action. I ordered a couple hundred Peterson 6.5 Creedmoor brass with large rifle primers. The Petersons brass is heavy and gives up 1 grain of water capacity to Lapua and 3 grains to Hornady brass. I was only able to get 46grs in the cases without a drop tube but it turns out that where I started seeing faint ejector marks. I started at 44grs and got around 2725fps and ended at 46grs with 2875fps. This was with 147 ELD-M's at .030" off the rifling. The groups were impressive with the 46gr load shooting a .105" 3 shot group. I didn't measure the 45.5gr load but it shot 3 of 4 about .2". I screwed up the 3rd shot and shot a 4th that went with the other 3. The other upper target is a 5 shot group with 45grs. This is from a 25" #3 Brux barrel, Remington action, Jewell trigger, and McMillan edge fill Game Scout stock that I did all the gunsmithing on myself. It only has 27 rounds through the barrel now and it should pick up 40-50fps as it gets near 100 rounds through it like my 300wsm Brux did.

I was having the same issue as you with the pierced primers. Sent my bolt off to GreTan rifles and for $80 he bushed the firing pin hole and turned the pin down for me. My bolt was out of my hands for exactly 1 week and his work was excellent. Trying RL26 tomorrow with 147gr ELD. Looking forward to seeing the results

My action was already nitrided after I fluted the bolt and threaded the bolt handle. So bushing the firing pin wasn't a viable option.

I "fiddled" with a bunch of powders in my 270 Wby in a custom action... (almost the same case as the 300 Win)...then I bought some RL26...

Out of a 28" barrel, I am pushing the 170 Bergers @ 3225fps with out any pressure signs and an ES of around 10 and a MOA of less than .5...

I bought 2 more jugs of RL26 (hard to find)...and hope for the best...

Do not know what is in it...but I am happy...

I chrono'd a few yesterday in my 270 win rifles. I used Sierra 150 grain Gamekiings and Hornady 150 grain sst's. 61.5 grains produced 3050 fps average on both and there is still room in the case for more powder...easy to eject the Hornady brass,no cratering. These speeds are from a 22"barrel. I also ran 61 grains behind the Hornady 130 gr GMX and got 2995 out of a 19" tube...absolutley no pressure signs..I will try 61.5 and 62 today in this rifle. The 130 GMX is the same length as the 150 SST

What's everyone running for a charge in their 7mm rem mag with a 162? I did a small test yesterday. 69 grains was my starting point and worked up to 70.5 with no pressure signs whatsoever. 69.5 shot a .566 3 shot group. I didn't bring my chrono but plan on it next time out. However my vertical never changed from 69-70.5. Also plan on testing for pressure up to 71 or 71.5. Rifle is a Browning x-bolt eclipse Hunter 26in barrel shooting a 162 Hornady bthp match.

Using 180 Berger VLD Hunting I maxed out at 69 grains going 3070, if that gives you an idea. That was with an ejector mark on the case head, pretty hot. Settled on 67.8 going 3020 or so with the 180, no overpressure signs and primer radius still rounded

That does help. Let's me know I'm probably not over pressured. I loaded up 70 and 70.5 for groups to see how they shoot. I still haven't decided if I'm going to try 71-71.5. My Remington brass won't last long

Those Bergers are hell on whitetails. Used 'em last year to drop a grown (110lb) doe at 250yds with my .270 Allen Magnum. I'm pushing them almost 3450fps and it looked like she hit the dirt before the rifle went off! My six year old flipped out. He couldn't believe his eyes. Double lung shot put a golf ball size hole all the way through.
Wish I could burn RL26 in this but from what I hear powder bridging is a concern with this shape/type of powder. Running 95.5gn of US869 right now but gonna try Retumbo. JohnnyK.

Reloder 26 seems like a magic powder. I got a few pounds to try out in my 243 win and 300 win mag. It is great in those and my brother's 270 win with 140 gr Bergers it is shooting groups with 3 almost in the same hole and velocity 150 fps higher than his h4831 load.

Now I'm worried about availability. I wish I would have bought 16 pounds of it when it was in stock. Checking in quickload, it shows RL26 as the highest vel powder for several of my cartridges: 243 win, 264 win mag, 280 rem, 223 wssm, and 300 wm.

I'm starting to try RL26 in my 7mm rem mag , it also looks good in my 300wby . I use quickload too . just use caution with quickload and RL26 powder . in my 7 rem mag after I adjusted the water case capacity and the COAL I thought my max charge would be 73.8 gr at 3146FPS . I fired one round loaded at 72.2 quickload calls it at 3080fps , my labradar says 3251 . I thought it must have been a fluke so I fired another loaded at 72.4gr quickload calls for 3088fps , labradar 3261FPS . I'm figuring my loads are about 4.2 gr to high . I pulled them apart and down loaded them . I haven't got back out to shoot these new ones so I can't say how the velocity matches up . this is the first time I ran into a problem like this using quickload , I don't think I goofed up .

My 243 showed higher velocity and pressure sooner than QL predicted. I figured I must have had a hot batch of RL26 but then the same can of powder in my 300wm matched QL predictions really well.

I chrono'd my 270 win /19 " barrel @2900 fps driving the Hornady 145 gr ELD X bullet. A safe load,a proposed hunting load that was sub moa. That makes me happy because the rifle is my saddlerifle-a takedown BLR lever. All my 150 grain loads chrono'd over 3000 fps ( up to 3080)with the other long barreled( 22") .270. Reloder 26 is a great ingredient imo
