Reloading 7mm PRC

I believe that Hornady has been using Staball HD for their factory loads. I picked up 8lbs of it and found similar mv as their factory stuff but it's hard to know for sure as I'm still breaking in my barrel and I have a 27.5" barrel. I've got 16lbs of N570 as well and was going to try the 190 atips and Bergers, as well as the 195 Bergers but not in 7mm PRC. The F Class guys are shooting N555 (and H4350 to H4831SC) with the 180s but not in 7mm PRC but rather in a necked up 6.5 PRC like an Alex Wheeler case 7PRCW in Lapua brass.
In the ammo we've received and the load data provided to us prior to the launch of the 7PRC, the powder Hornady used was RL26.

I am using N570 in my 7mm PRC with 180gn VLD-H out of a 26" PVA 8 twist prefit for a Sako TRG-S. My current load is 70.5gn and my Magnetospeed is reading 3020fps. I have shot it out to 1270yrds. The ES is what has me hooked. I have had 5 shots with an ES of 13fps. I harvested my spring black bear with it on Tuesday evening.

Excellent, thanks for sharing.

Is that a custom chamber for the 180 or SAMMI chamber?

I didn't spec. anything different so I assume it is Saami spec. It was offered by Patriot Valley Arms on a discount for a overrun of barrels and I just ordered by the drop down menus and selected the caliber, barrel profile and barrel tenon.

I'm gonna try 175-180 class bullets with my 22" barrel once it's done. Gonna try n560 so I can save my n570 for my 338LM. Also have Staball HD that I might try.

Thank you for the replies. Especially the quick load data.

I've gone through longrangeonly and hawkins "guides" I'm not sure why they are referenced now when N570 is not mentioned. Backfire tv also has a "guide". Ive gone through these 3 guides and typed up the information in a more usable format for me but again, N570 is not mentioned.

I will load up some 184 Berger hybrid and run them in front of the chronograph to get some data hopefully in the next week or so.

7 PRC
26-inch, 1:8 twist barrel
195 gr Berger
66.9 gr N570
.030" OL
2.676 CBTO
3.434 COAL
2954 fps ave

What version of QL are you running? I need to get the update I guess, mine does not have 7mm PRC.

This tracks with the 6.5 and 300 PRC as VV570 is usually listed as the fastest potential for them using heaviest for caliber bullets and similar compressed loads. My 6.5 CM is magic with that same compression level using RL26.
Looks like a update came out in April

That looks more like what I would expect from a case with much capacity and a long throat.

I made it to the range to try the N570. I fired 10 rounds from 68.5-73gr (.5gr increments). Using hornady brass, CCI 250 and 184 berger hybrid target bullets seated 20 thou off lands (CBTO 2.649, OAL 3.400)

1st shot was fired on a stripped clean bore. I was having problems with the chronograph and missed 2 shots…Of course the 2 shots that I'm missing the velocity on seem to be in a good area.

68.5…2676
69.0…2816
69.5…2865
70.0…2884
70.5…2930
71.0…2953
71.5…????
72.0…3009
72.5…????
73.0…3025

.

At my chosen seating depth there was still case capacity left with 73gr of powder. With this same bullet, primer, brass and H1000 I was seeing pressure at 2950. With the N570 there maybe a slight difference in primer roundness between the lowest and highest charge if you want to see it, but nothing that would prevent me from pushing further if I wanted to. (85 degrees F on range day) POI for 70.5, 71.0 and 71.5 charges were .6 moa at 220yds. I plan on exploring that area more.

Thank you to just_jon, coyotezapper and jdwhittles for the information.

I haven't seen any test work with Peterson or other brass.
Any posted?
I've seen pictures of Adg 7prc brass but I haven't gotten notifications for any being in stock anywhere. I'm sure some of the YouTuber's have their hands on it but I haven't seen any videos released yet
