As previously noted, they are not obligated to share, whether people like it or not. I am sure they know the risks associated with their business decision, and no one is forced to use their product.
Well that's BS. It's not like everyone is out there brewing up batches of gunpowder. And they're not sharing any kind of recipe, only performance aspects of the powder.Well Hodgdon was pretty harsh in their response…
They do not support the QL, but they still support the reloading community via their website and all the reloading manuals that uses/tests their powders.Well that's BS. It's not like everyone is out there brewing up batches of gunpowder. And they're not sharing any kind of recipe, only performance aspects of the powder.
They should be willing to support the reloading community.
If your response is directed to me, you may view my responses as defending them, but I am simply stating their business stance. I understand you do not like it and are entitled to that opinion, but it is not a showstopper for me. I do not know anyone who shoots only Hodgdon-owned powders. It's not about QL, this just happens to be a QL thread. It's about Hogdgen and their actions. I generally enjoy and respect everything you post, but you seem to be defending them a lot here. Let's call a spade a spade. They are monopolizing our access to powder. Every time they buy another brand, price goes up. They say, and everyone seems to believe, that it's shortage and supplier cost increases, or inflation. BS, it's a monopoly. As you imply though, I'll keep buying it until I can't afford to shoot any more. Or until some competition re-enters the market place. But I'll still envy the guy who can shoot only non Hodgdon owned lables!
Yes, Sir! It really is that simple. This thread is cracking me up. I'm with @FEENIX. Take it up with Hodgdon.

It was directed to you. You may view my response as bashing them, but its not. Im simply stating market realities specifically to highlight the fact that no badgering will ever get them to play nice with QL. Its not in their business interest.
It's not a show stopper for me either. Only because it can't be though. Nor do I know anyone who shoots only Hodgdon powder. Nor do I personally know anyone who has the ability to shoot only non-Hodgdon powder. And therein lies my issue.
I've been beating this drum since they bought the Winchester powder brand years ago. People called me crazy then. "There is no way they will be able to monopolize gun powder in the US"... Well, guess what, neither they or Winchester were manufacturers. There was no reason to buy the brand besides market share. It's simple business. Take a look at the snipet I took from their website minutes ago. Every time one of those brands was purchased, price went up and the next brand aquisition was targeted.
I didn't start this thread, nor do I believe it was started to bash the brand. I'm simply participating in the discussion. But I do believe that my participation has run its course. I'll keep banging my drum every time something that sniffs of anti-trust comes along with Hogdons name on it, but for now my point has been made. We can all pretend it's not happening, but it is.
