Took my 25sst to 1500 yds today 3 hits in a row at 1500 and called it good Ready for NM antelope hunt
I got my 25SST build in and have loaded up my first set of 5 charge weights to try out. But, my range is still closed down here so not sure when I'll get to finally shoot it.
@rockwallraider - That looks like a great range setup. What scope are you using (curious for 1500 yard shots)?Wish I had access to a range like that here. I'm limited to 200 at my nearby range. We have a 600 yard range but the waiting list to join there is up to around 3 years now.

Good glass can make up for a lot. I have a night force actr 4x16x40 f1
That would do it. Love the NF scopes. I have an ATACR 7-35 that I am just blow away by, but its on my range focused 6.5CM Tikka TAC A1. For the 25SST I went ultra light and the base rifle weighs a bit over 7lbs. I'm going to do intial load development with a NX8 4-32 but still looking to find a lighter scope for hunting use on it.

I went all out on my 25SST glass. Took it out to 1550 two weeks ago too. I won't be shooting at pronghorn that far, but sure nice to know it is very possible.

Those of you who have harvested large game with the 25 SST and 131 Blackjack what is the largest game you believe this combo could cleanly take at 500 yds+? A buddy and I are planning a caribou hunt and I'd like to use the 25.

I haven't killed anything with the blackjacks yet (I know... not what you're looking for), but based on my experience with my 257wby and 115 ballistic tips and vld's, I wouldn't hesitate to use the 25sst at extended ranges.
I know coldboremiracle has taken elk out to 600y with the 131 ace. Shot placement is always essential to success like with any bullet.

I received a barrel from McGowan the other day. I was quoted at least 2 months because of the custom profile and it was here just over 4 weeks from order date. The shank matches the diameter of my Surgeon 591 (1.35") and is .90 at the muzzle (24"). It's the same profile as the CarbonSix barrel I ordered the same day. Hopefully the C6 barrel will be finished in the next month or so, I'm really looking forward to shooting the 131 Blackjack and 25 SST.

Elk at ~280 and mule deer at 380 iirc last fall. If you look at the ballistic #'s and KE at 300-400 vs 500-600 the elk or deer isn't going to know any difference. : ) My Cow blew bone bits and blood all over the field behind her. The Mulie didn't move more than 0-3' due to extensive vertebrate damage although I hit him midrib.
With deer I am confident of ethical kill to 800 yards although the kinetic energy at 3200 yards would be good for another 400 yards - I find that 600-800 yard window very comfortable and TOF and wind band issues are not as big a deal in new terrain as a 1200 yard shot where the KE may still be good but other variables are indeterminable.
I used to shoot deer with a 0.313 G7 140 gr @ 3111 fps to 600-800 yards with no issues and now I run 0.340 G7 @ 3215 fps with more energy retention downrange albeit 9 grains lighter.
Coldbore and others have taken elk to 600-800 yards. For me personally, if an elk is at range, I will send one through the vitals and reload immediately to send a skeletal shoulder shot if the animal doesn't know what happened (most don't know what hit them at 600-800 yards, especially suppressed). Elk that find an arroyo whether its 6' or 50' deep make for a long day. If the animal's stance allowed for skeletal-to-vitals at 600-800 I would take that as a primary shot and be ready for a follow up.
I do the same with 284 Win, 7 Mag and 300 Win Mag too.

Mature West Texas Aoudad-- I'm running the 131 from a .257wby @ 3300+.... stalked in expecting 600 yard shot but he helped out by heading my way. Finally pulled the trigger at 147 yards. Impact velocity around 3150fps, penetrated rib cage, destroyed lungs and liver (quartered to), no exit, ram made it 30 yards and tumbled.
