I decided to venture to Minnesota to deer hunt for the first time since 1991. Mark( we've been good friends since the mid 70's, he's came here to Wisconsin to muzzle load hunt several times) invited me to his place for the season. His son (my God son) was hunting with us and his sons best friend hunted also.

Friday before season I got to his place and we went out to scout. There's a bike path that runs through the property. As we walked down the bike trail we found about 500 yards of fishing line woven through the woods, and removed it. Mark let me use his bed because the spare bedroom is in the basement and my arthritic knees don't do stairs as well as they used to.

Saturday morning was beautiful and my God son tagged a doe. To get to the ground blind we had to cross a very large chisel plowed field. Pretty hard on the knees. My God son told me that I shouldn't be walking in that field and told me he would put one of his extra blinds up for me where I could get closer with my vehicle. Got there that afternoon and the blind was set up complete with buddy heater and chair. Fast forward to my last day. Got an opportunity to shoot a fair buck and took it. My friend and my God sons friends heard the shot and insisted on driving me to the downed deer and dressing it for me. We went to my God sons house to hang the buck and he had boned out the doe he shot opening day and we put the meat in the cooler for my trip home. If he had not done that we would have been up all night trying to get my deer cut up.

Just want to tell all of you that there's still good people out there. Don't forget to thank them when they treat you the way that I was treated.

We were in the north western part of Mn for opening weekend. What a great time at the farm.
