primers

60+ grains is where I will start switching to Mag primers as well although I will still run a test with LR up to 70 grains depending on the powder. I do also have a couple loads for rifles burning 40-45 grains that get 215s. These are my below zero loads and the mag primers give a smaller SD in these loads when it's really cold.
 
You do you, but large charges of slow burning powder in cold weather (hunting guns, etc.) get mag. primers when I load too... I usually start thinking of it when I get to '06 size cases...
Was just asking if there was more behind it than just because that's what the book says.
