POTENTIAL NEW WORLD RECORD ELK?

Literally hundreds of thousands of T-post scattered across the west on public land?
Oh, I know all that. I've hunted the west most of my life. This one looks to have an orange top. I see those making NFS boundaries a lot. See the fences on NFS and BLM land too.

Thing is - this elk was probably killed on wildlife winter range or possibly even a ranch, where it was relatively easy to find. So it is what it is. This gentleman had the tag and access. Monetary and logistic considerations were probably the biggest obstacles in harvesting this bull.
When someone kinda mentions the obvious on this thread, they are called haters. Kinda unjust.

For you envious, doubters, jealous or haters, have you looked at this guys hunting resume? He has taken over 80 plus bulls in his hunting career and several over 400 inches…with a bow. Do you even know someone personally who has taken even one over 400…I doubt most of us can say "yeah".

Anyway, the level of PASSION to pursue these numbers of animals, time and surely money is extraordinary. I am sure he has sacrificed time away from family and endured some rough times too through the years.

So, everything I have read is this was done DIY, no outfitters and the help of family and friends. So I applaud the guy and don't care if it was taken on the highest peak in North American or a hay field in the back 40…it did take him a few years to get it done. Well done sir.

That's exactly where I'm at on it. That amount of bulls with a bow is impressive no other way to put it. You can have some great private ground, in a unit with tons of elk and there are days where killing one with a bow seems next to impossible. The next day it can flip 180 and you can have numerous bulls in bow range but you get my point. It's not rifling one out of a hay field, especially when you're after a specific bull. Cows in the way, raghorn comes in from behind and blows the entire thing up etc, other elk in front that wind you etc. a million things can go wrong. Killing a specific animal and only that animal with a bow is a hard thing to do.

I'm really curious how many archery bulls some of the haters have under their belts.

Absolute slob of a bull! And with a bow no less….during the post rut. I don't care how much he paid, that's no easy feat and deserves as much respect as the bull! There is something to be said about that unit. The bull the two brothers harvested last year shares the same genetics and is definitely of relation to this bull. Going to make the two border units in Oregon point creep hard after this!

I really don't understand the hate. I label it as envy. I don't know the full back story and mostly everyone on here doesn't either. If this bull was killed legally, who cares if it was shot over bait, or from a 2 mile sniper shot, or with a crossbow….its a monster bull and anyone who has spent time in the elk woods has dreamt of seeing something like this! To touch on the money portion, more power to guy on how he wants to spend his money! Personally, if I had the money to buy governor tags or any auction tags for that matter, I would in a heartbeat cause I could afford it and it's what I love to do! But for now, I'll continue to grab my hard hat, lunch pail and thermos like I have for the last 25yrs and make the hour drive to work to support my wife and kids. Some guys have car collections, some guys have multiple vacation homes…different strokes for different folks! Apparently this guy has put his time in if he's killed that many elk, let alone that many bulls over 400". A magnificent specimen of an animal! Congrats to the lucky hunter!
That's a dandy in your avatar. Wow!

Amazing bull and obvious dedication by this guy to harvest such a beast especially with using a bow.

All the whiners are likely jealous internet warriors who spend more time on their keyboards than they do in the field. STFU you jealous losers. SMH 🤬
Haha, I spend more time hunting in 1 year 99% of the hunting populations does in a decade. As a Professional Guide, I did 13 weeks of elk guiding this year. Collectively, we killed 45 bulls in 2024. Add all of my personal hunting, without question that is over 100 days in the woods. See exhibit A, that is 700"s of bone harvested in 1 day & we do this regularly. If anything, I'm a realist & do not believe 99.99% of the nonsense I read on the internet. I know Casey's type, kills big animals & claims its all DIY Backcountry stuff. Which could not be further from the truth. The idea that he is wealthy & can buy any tag he wants tells me all I need to know. Put that in your pipe & smoke it keyboard cowboy 😉

Your first post said you weren't passing judgment...sure seems like you're judging him now...or perhaps it's just your jealousy coming out...
