New Wincester XR turkey loads

You are exactly right on them retaining more energy
at extended ranges and they simply hit harder that
is why the Hevishot is far and away the best

I have a MOSSY 835 W/ a truglo chock and a red dot scope. Put the dot on the turkeys head and pull the trigger , SMOKED turkey!!!. When I got my 835 I tried a lot of different brand shells in 4,5,and 6 shot. I also tried heavy shot that I thought didn't pattern as good as the copper plated shot. It had too many holes in the pattern. My best patterns came with Federal 3 1/2 2oz of #5 shot. I can put a minimum of 7-10 pellets in the head & neck turkey target every shot at 60 yards. This would be my maximum range. Any thing less than 7-10 hits would not be ethical enough for me to try a shot that far

not at all my experience with the Magnum Blends
nothing that I have tested is close when you combine
the patterns and penetration at extended yardages

The world record pattern was just set by long beard not that long ago. I ran it through a Remington 870 last year and it pummeled 2 mature gobblers. We were die hard hevi-13 and magnum blend guys until we shot long beard. Hevi-shot needs to bring their prices down to a more affordable price for the average joe. 5 bucks a shell is ridiculous. Ill be running long beard and magnum blend in my new winchester sx3 but I'm predicting the long beard will pattern the best. However, my furthest turkey kill was 70 yards with magnum blend. It's great stuff

I agree the Hevi Shot is awesome stuff. I compare how many
shells that I shoot during turkey season and honestly
don't feel that the Hevi Shot is expensive in comparison

I also use a cheap jelly head choke with the #6 3.5" long beards and I'm very impressed. I use the same setup in my 835, and my tristar hunter mag double barrel. It's a good setup

Misjudged distance and killed one longbeard at 62 steps with Federal 3 &1/2" - 2oz of #5 shot they pattern best out of my 835 Mossburg. You would think that the 2&1/4 oz would shoot better but it's too much and blows holes in the pattern, and heavy shot really sucked!

Here's a pattern from 25 yards my buddy shot with 3in #6 long beard. Winchester sxp long beard edition with a pattern master choke
