New squirrel rifle

Yazoser!
Beautiful Rig!!!! Sure hope that you chambered in at least .416 Rigby
We have a huge population of squirrels here in GA but beware of the ZOMBIE Squirrels. They may get you before you get a shot off!
haha. 17/22 Swager. chambers 22lr. swages bullet down to .17 upon firing. 17-inch .168 rifled bore. My rifle prefers Remington Yellowjacket, Remington Viper and Federal 724. Shoots decent with CCI Mini Mag hp also. Action is Brno. Barrel is PacNor. Stock is KKC of Norway.
Not a match gun but good for .5-1.0 inch at 50 yards.

Have you tried CCI Stingers?

I have, they do ok. I sometime shoot them. But the accuracy is not as good with the Stingers. Velocity is substantially greater though. about 1530 with Stingers and 1320 with Yellowjackets last time I put then on the Magnetospeed. Federal Punch is another fast one, 1550. Accuracy is again, ok, but not as consistent as the Yellowjackets, Vipers, or the Federal 724.

I took my new 22 out today but no squirrels were found.

6 squirrels in my back yard at one time yesterday! Sadly within the city limits I can't even use a pellet gun on them. I have live trapped a few and transplanted them to the mountains where I can eventually hunt them.
I'm hoping they don't start chewing my truck wiring! They are already chewing holes in my drip irrigation! Ugh!

Is that a single shot? What make and model is that? That is amazing!
It is a single shot Winchester 1885 that was produced a few years ago (made for Winchester in Japan by Miroku). I had been watching them on Gunbroker but could never justify the price they were going for. This past fall, I got this one at a local auction for what I thought was a pretty good deal.

Now, if I could find a deal on one in 45-70!

That is one sweet look'n rifle…..congratulations on the find!

45-70……a bit larger than most folks would use on squirrels….."head shots" should be considered mandatory! 😉 Though, I used a .308 Win with cast bullets for several years! memtb
