New Rifle build Please tell me why I should or should not build a 25-06

A little input I have a short action Savage that want to build a new Rifle. I have a .270, 300 wm, 6.5 cm
So I am thinking a 25-06 or a 22 creedmoor I reload so I will need to get brass and Bullets can brass be found for the 25-06?

You would need a long action for the 25-06 but the 22 CM would work and is awesome with hammer bullets zipping at warp speed!!

What are you going to use it for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I were you I would sell that Savage and get a whole different rifle rather than building off of a Savage. One that you really want and spend the money on your dream rifle.
25.06, 222 Creed are you looking for a fast medium game cartridge? There is a lot more info needed. If just hunting deer and want a smaller caliber probably would not go with a .224 and up it to maybe some fast 6MM BR or 243 Rem, 257 Roberts. After that you need to go up to a 6.5 maybe a 260 Remington and maybe faster a 6.5X284.

I say go .22 creed. No need to sell that savage in my opinion either.

the .25-06 won't work in a short action, at least not as a repeater, PLUS you already have a .270 and a 6.5 creedmoor. While one could nitpick about ballistics, theres little one can do that the others can't if you put the .25-06, 6.5 creed, and .270 to use for the same things. But a fast .22 would be legit new territory for you. If you have brass for your 6.5 cm then you have brass for the .22 version of it if you need.

Do not let anybody (including myself) talk you out of building what you really want. If you have your heart set for .25-06, go for it. Sell or trade the SA for a LA. Believe me, you'll be much happier.

However, since you mentioned the 22 Creedmoor (along with the .25-06) you might take a look at the 25 Creedmoor and think about slinging some of the Blackjack 131gr ACE Match Bullets out of it. You already have the Creedmoor brass and a short action. Betcha that would be fun to load for/shoot! Of course, you could shoot those in a .25-06 with the appropriate twist, too. Just my .02. Good luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!

Brother, IMHO, .25 CM does not have enough case capacity to take full advantage of the 131 BJ's.

I personally have a25-06 and a 6.5creed. When I go hunting I'll usually pick up the 25-06. Just personal preference but really love that gun.

I built a 22 creed off a savage action with a criteron barrel. It zips the little 90 gr Berger's out with barely any recoil with the hellfire brake. Something to consider anyways
