New Cartridge for Hunting?

:banghead: Dang at all the choices out there. Still can't get the 6.5's out of my brain.....

Well you already have a rifle that will do it all. The question is "what do you want to do with the new rifle"? If solely for hunting, what are you going to hunt? If plinking, the options are endless. I hear a lot of guys talking about the 6mm CM. But if you're like me and into nostalgia well ain't nothing gooder than a .45-70 IMO.
Another cool hunting chambering I was seriously considering was the .338 Federal.

Got a 6.5CM competition rig. Looking fir bigger and better I guess. More FPS, energy and flatter.

What about the 300 Norma vs the 338 RUM? That way I could shoot my can. (Without buying a new one)

What is your can rated for? Mine is rated for .300 RUM but when I called the designer/maker, I am told it will handle .30-378 WBTY when they tested it.

Yuppers,,, endless avenues to look at.

I was packing and Remington 7 mm mag case around in my pocket for 2 months,,, I didn't buy a rifle for it """yet""". Ha

Some people's call it boring,,, I suppose it could fit that category,,, I heard roumers that boring cartridges make some of the best builds,,, purhaps that's why I took on a rare duck wild-cat 6.5 A-square this year... 28 days from start to finish...

Yuppers,,, its deadly boring,,, Ho Hummmmm. LOL

So if you'd like something different how about the 8mm Remington Mag or the .358 Norma Mag? of course the .338 in just about anything is a proven winner.

To me a perfect combination of hunting rifles would be to have a 6.5 PRC and a 300 PRC,
a 6.5 PRC rifle in the 7lb range scoped and then what you already have in your 300 WM but I would go 300 PRC over the 300WM only cause I like the flavour of the
PRC Kool:cool:ade,

both excellent cartridges and readily available cheap factory ammo with heavy/high BC bullet options for hunting and long range shooting, what more could you ask for ?

Really depends on what you want out of your new build, what are using it for ? strictly a hunting rifle ? hunting rifle with some long range shooting as well, or strictly a range gun ?
When I build new rifles I always focus on the weight and the intended purpose of the rifle.
