N560 powder replacing RL26 ?

N565 is the better comparison to RL26. I would put H1000, N565, and RL26 all in the same burn rate family.

N560 is a faster burn rate, closer to H4831 or RL23.

N565 is an outstanding substitute for RL26. I have done an A/B comparison of 160 grain loads in 7RM. RL26 is the velocity king, but N565 is only 15-20 fps behind.

Made the switch to V560 from R19 in the 340 wby about 5 years ago. 560 is way more temp. stable, I'm getting small clover leaf groups from 84.5 to 86.5 gr. and didn't hit pressure until 87.5 at 70 degrees. Running 215 Sierra at 3100, and 3150 in two 300 wby with 180 interbonds. Don't think you could go wrong by picking up 8 lb jug as it looks like it works in many other cal.

N560 gave me higher velocity in 280AI and 30-06AI than RL-23. I haven't used RL-26. I was getting velocities at the top of the spectrum, but within the range of published data with the N560. People seem to claim velocities that are hard to believe with RL-26. From that perspective I assume that N560 won't quite reach the same velocities. Even so, it was quite the performer for me. Good price too.
ImBillT:
What bullet and velocities are you seeing in the 280AI? I have the Nosler 160AB, Berger 175EH, and Sierra 165 GC to test in my rifle and have some N560 to burn.

I'm giving up on restocking my RL26 stash and looking at N560 and curious if anyone has played much with it? I have a 6x47 Lapua shooting the 115 Berger's and it scoots with RL26…. I have N570 and N565 and love it so I'm looking at grabbing 8lbs of n560 to try but wanted to see if anyone has any first had experience
Maybe try with 1 lb first?

IIRC my 280ai was 60 gr N560 with 160 AB and 168 ABLR.
Watch for pressure signs. I was at a slightly higher charge but dropped back down because I shot it in the summer and had tight bolt lift.
Pressure with N560, like other double based powders, can sneak up quickly when running near the top end.

I tried 565 in fast twist .243 and got good accuracy, but I can't get enough of it in the case with 103gr Hornady to reach max velocity. I will be dropping back to 560 to check. I can get a grain more Grand in the case for decent speed and even better accuracy, but still not quite enough for top speed. Grand isn't dense at all. RL26 was perfect on case fill, but not as good for me on accuracy. Might be with some tweaking. Just an FYI.

In the creedmoor and 308 sized cases N550 is going to outrun N560. Down at 22 creedmoor N555 does a little better than both and should have better ES/SD due to the load density being just about perfect for the heavies and getting right at 100% case capacity as you hit pressure.
Even in 30-06 N550 is going to be faster than N560 at least up to 175gr projectiles(I've tested both and run 550). Maybe with 200gr+ in that case N560 would have the time to build pressure. The issue I have running N560 in anything non-magnum or not quite overbore with heavy for caliber is it needs time to burn and if it can't get pressure to begin with due to low load density, at no barrel length will it complete the burn. The achieved maximum pressure greatly effects burn rate.

Interesting results you are all getting with 560 . I think 150 and 160 are magic in 6 BRA , 6 xc , 6.5 creedmoor, 308 . So your case falls in the same category as the Creedmoor and 308 . I would think these more suited to your situation
