N560 powder replacing RL26 ?

N565 is the better comparison to RL26. I would put H1000, N565, and RL26 all in the same burn rate family.

N560 is a faster burn rate, closer to H4831 or RL23.

N565 is an outstanding substitute for RL26. I have done an A/B comparison of 160 grain loads in 7RM. RL26 is the velocity king, but N565 is only 15-20 fps behind.

Funny you say that. I just ordered some N560 for my 7PRC in the works. It's a 22" barrel and I'm going to run 162 HHT's . What is your setup and what kind of speeds are you seeing?

6mm is more RL-16, Staball-6.5, H4831 territory. N560 is very temp sensitive too. RL-26 is high energy. N565 is not.

Sorry, are you saying N565 is not high energy?

N560/565/570 all have the exact same energy density, and they are all high energy double base powders.

Made the switch to V560 from R19 in the 340 wby about 5 years ago. 560 is way more temp. stable, I'm getting small clover leaf groups from 84.5 to 86.5 gr. and didn't hit pressure until 87.5 at 70 degrees. Running 215 Sierra at 3100, and 3150 in two 300 wby with 180 interbonds. Don't think you could go wrong by picking up 8 lb jug as it looks like it works in many other cal.

N560 gave me higher velocity in 280AI and 30-06AI than RL-23. I haven't used RL-26. I was getting velocities at the top of the spectrum, but within the range of published data with the N560. People seem to claim velocities that are hard to believe with RL-26. From that perspective I assume that N560 won't quite reach the same velocities. Even so, it was quite the performer for me. Good price too.

What bullet and velocities are you seeing in the 280AI? I have the Nosler 160AB, Berger 175EH, and Sierra 165 GC to test in my rifle and have some N560 to burn.

I'm giving up on restocking my RL26 stash and looking at N560 and curious if anyone has played much with it? I have a 6x47 Lapua shooting the 115 Berger's and it scoots with RL26…. I have N570 and N565 and love it so I'm looking at grabbing 8lbs of n560 to try but wanted to see if anyone has any first had experience

Maybe try with 1 lb first?

What grain of bullets do you want to shoot? N140, N150 for up to 85 gr....N550 will get you 3200 with a 90 gr.
