My perfect Wyoming Mountain rifle build thread

Thanks for the info.
Yes sir, I have complained to all the chassis makers over LOP being too long. Especially if a folder is added.
XLR needs to make the short carbon fiber tube about 1" shorter. There is a 1/2" recoil pad spacer they offer that could be added along with the folder if addition length is needed. Just me and my opinion.
Anybody from XLR listening?
Redhawk rifles sells their non-folders chassis with like 12.5" LOP for customers looking to use the folding adapter. I'd imagine a call to them before ordering would net you a tube whatever length you need. If they made their short tube 1" shorter that would **** off the other 50% that like it hahah. It's very hard to sell something that fits everyone's LOP exactly.

Just got home and measured mine. 13 5/8. Based on standard process for LOP it's good for my arm length but other things affect it too, like neck length, shoulder mass, face length etc. If you find yourself having to reach out with the arm and putting tension on the butt then yeah I could see that being an issue. My MDT's I would adjust the spacers but the XLR seems fine. I've not actually had to thing about it is what I'm saying. Just line and it feels good. If anything I feel squaring up vs shoulder back brings my hand closer to the trigger.

Anyway, just curious, I ain't here to tell no one how to go pew with their bang stick. I ain't no pro
Ya, that's what mine is. I am 5'11", I have no issues shooting mine, but I prefer about a 13.25" LOP for my long range rifles, especially since during my hunting season I am often wearing a few layers, I'm rarely wearing just one or two thin layers. But, it still works fine for me, would just prefer about .25"-.5" shorter, picking nits at this point.

As far as the folder freezing up? Never had that, and this gun gets most it's use elk hunting, and does a december/January hunt every year. Are you talking about unlocking the mechanism, so it can be folded? I could see that possibly happening, I have mine adjusted pretty snug on lock up. I think that's just the nature of these super cold hunts sometimes! My son is going to find that out soon, he will be able to hunt for his first big game animal in less than a week, January cow elk hunt!

The sliding mechanism on the folder is what was giving me issues. I adjusted the tension, and even added some mil-com grease between hunts but it didn't help. It would either freeze in the locked position or unlocked position or wouldn't latch when needed. I even had some issues with my mdt Ckye-pod freezing up some.

Conditions were nasty, freezing rain/snow and I typically hunt 4-5 days at a time with camp on my back, so there is no getting out of it.

I use this and one from Midway. In the winter I will snowmobile or snowbike for wolves and snow gets everywhere. Rain can be an issue going from low to high elevation and freeze. I just cover it up and go.

Also great for keeping the dust/dirt/sand off your rifle when hunting in the southwest…especially when riding in open cab type vehicles.

Another elk down, my late season cow, at 497 yds. For me, that's 2 elk with 2 rounds this year, this rifle is a flat out elk hammer.

Also, the Apex bullets are awesome. Impact was through the ribs behind the shoulder, high shoulder, but did not hit the spine, there was a little damage to the muscle tissue that runs along the base of the spine but no damage to the vertebrae itself, completely tanked her.

Awesome clear video.
Lots of good eating there.
