I have only used H1000, Retumbo, and H4831sc.

On a different note, I will be doing a bullet guide on the 194 Apex over on LRO, after hopefully two more elk, probably early 2025.
Hey Cody - What did you end up finding for optimum bullet jump and what is the overall cartridge length with the 194 Apex in your 30 Nosler?

@codyadams
I have built a shorter range version of your build on my own ideas. Same XLR set up, short action .308 for now, I'm not shooting as far as you, yet lol. Long action sitting in the safe waiting for the day the short is holding me back.

First trip out, the carbon fiber stock tube started getting a tiny bit loose in the action. About to work on it, any tips or tricks now that you have some time on it?
Also, I went with the short stock but the folder was OOS. Finally just got it delivered. How are you liking LOP with the folder? Did you go long or short stock?
Great build, thanks for sharing.

@Bravo 4
Glad you got yourself an elk! Congrats!

I just put a little blue lock tight on my stock and crank down the castle nut. I uses the shorter LOP stock with the folder, the LOP is still a touch long for me, maybe 1/4" - 1/2" longer than I prefer, but it still works great. I love the folder still!

Thanks for the info.
Yes sir, I have complained to all the chassis makers over LOP being too long. Especially if a folder is added.
XLR needs to make the short carbon fiber tube about 1" shorter. There is a 1/2" recoil pad spacer they offer that could be added along with the folder if addition length is needed. Just me and my opinion.
Anybody from XLR listening?

Agreed. I've thought about cutting the carbon myself and gluing the butt back on

What are your LOP's? I'm a sawed off little half human and don't have an issue with my XLR.
Old dog, trying to learn new tricks, and break old habits.
I have moved to a squared up behind the rifle position to be able to spot my own shots and control recoil impulse. I've also moved to a higher scope mount to get my head/vision in a more erect position and help my neck. Both of these have required shorter LOP. EVERYTHING you adjust or move affects LOP unless you start crawling the rifle to adjust your body to the rifle.
Together,,,, I'm still guessing and learning especially in field positions, which are completely different than bench or prone. And it's all a compromise outside of the one perfectly adjusted position. Right now somewhere between 12.5" and 13.25", but I'm guessing and learning. Im doing pretty good with the XLR short. I think the XLR short plus the 1/2" recoil pad spacer might be the sweet spot, but but but I want to add a folder. Anytime I think I know something…. find out I don't know so much. My journey to rifle enlightenment.

But I'm shooting coyotes and prairie dogs, you are shooting wolves. Maybe I should be asking you lol. (Man crush 🫣❤️) YAMH wolfey!

Just got home and measured mine. 13 5/8. Based on standard process for LOP it's good for my arm length but other things affect it too, like neck length, shoulder mass, face length etc. If you find yourself having to reach out with the arm and putting tension on the butt then yeah I could see that being an issue. My MDT's I would adjust the spacers but the XLR seems fine. I've not actually had to thing about it is what I'm saying. Just line and it feels good. If anything I feel squaring up vs shoulder back brings my hand closer to the trigger.

Anyway, just curious, I ain't here to tell no one how to go pew with their bang stick. I ain't no pro

I ran the XLR folder this last season on an envy pro. I absolutely loved how it carried. I did have some issues with the folding mechanism freezing several times in some snowy/icy weather. I ended up having to use my jetboil to thaw it on a few occasions. I was curious if you ran into this.
