My new lighter weight hunting rifle

That is a beauty for sure. I just did a build to make for an easier carrying rifle ending in the 8.5 lb range scoped. I know you can go a lot lighter but it sure feels light and handy at that weight. what bullet are you planning to feed your 28?

I am running the 162 ELDX Precision hunter right now. Once I get enough brass to reload maybe 190's.

Nice rifle and scope combination. interesting cartridge choice for western hunting

My New "Lighter Weight" Hunting Rifle: (for Nevada hunting)
6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro - 6 lbs. 3 oz.
Bushnell LRTS scope FFP, mil/mil, G3 illuminated reticle - 28 oz., Talley rings

Browning gave it a 1:7 twist to stabilize heaver bullets from 143 grains up to around 150 grains. This rifle is accurate.

Why is it an interesting choice for western big game? This thing has enough energy to take elk at over 1000 yds and doesn't hardly kick. I thought it was a great caliber for western hunting.

A post like this and no range report.......you are killing me, how does it shoot ? I have been waiting since November to find out , I believe it is internet law that you have to post some groups ;)

I was between the havak & the ridgeline myself. Ended up ordering a ridgeline in 6.5 prc this week. For now I'm leaning towards using my vx5 had 3x15x56 on it: Scoped I should stay right @ 8lbs.

Awesome rig for sure...

I cant wait to get my light weight rifle build under way...

6 1/2 to 7 lbs in a standard cartridge with no break,,, i wear a thick jacket when hunting up here in the North during the fall and winter months,,, gel shoulder pad at the range...

At least it won't wear me out packing it by hand or on the sling...

Good times for sure...

I'll keep my heavy weight for the shooting range and for back up at hunting if needed...

So excited to get out and get this thing sighted in. Just got it back from cerakote yesterday and all put back together. Seekins Havok in 28 Nosler w/seekins rings and a Leupold VX6 4-24 scope. Haven't weighed it, but I should be in the 8.5# range. That's much better then the 14# rifle I was packing.
Let me know if you upgrade to something else, I'd entertain buying it.

Picked up my 6.5 prc ridgeline yesterday & ordered a rail from the longrangeonly store. Can't wait to get it altogether.

Finally got my 6.5 prc setup & got it on paper today.
