Most horsepower available in a medium action?

I'm looking to get a barrel for a medium lone peak, and want to find the cartridge that gives the absolute most in this size action.. anything top the 300wsm here? I'm guessing most responses will be 300 mega?

What range and what Game are you going to harvest???

I currently shoot a 25 Saum on that rifle, but was considering throwing a heavy steel barrel on there to dabble in some ELR type shooting

Maybe go with a 6.5 something? You can get ELR and hitting power.

I don't think I'm actually doing anything soon..was more just looking for cartridge discussion on it. I wonder how a 25-7prc would fit

Whats mag length? I ran my 257 Weatherby at 3.190 and 3.2 and a couple were shorter yet. With the 7PRCs shorter case ud have same COL with better case usage.

With what you're asking I would like to see how many hunters not shooters.
Only hunters reply to a survey asking if they would go to a wildcat cartridge vs a sammi available cartridges that they could buy off the shelf.
My guess is and sometimes I'm completely wrong is that 90% of hunters are going to tell you to pick a cartridges that you can find at Wally world.
Unless they are the die-hard target and reloader.
With everything going on I wish I'd never spent the money on a custom 270 wsm barrel.

I'd agree 90% of hunters would say that, but I have to believe the 10% that wouldn't are right here on this forum. One I've been interested in is the new one Kinport peak has been working on, 300kpr mag. It's a variation off the wsm case.

338 Mega

Personally not a fan of the Sherman's really, and even less so of the 250 bergers. 300s are great, but I much prefer the .308 offerings over the 338. Especially in anything smaller then 338 Norma or RUM
