Mild recoiling rifle for hunting medium sized game

Hello, new to this forum. Looking for recommendations for factory rifles for this purpose. My planned shooting range on game would not exceed 600-700 yards but I would like to try target shooting out to 1,000 ish yards. The 6.5 CM gets a lot of press and it seems like there are a lot of choices in rifle and ammo. However, I am open to other caliber choices. I don't plan to handload.
FYI, I have a 300WM that I use for elk hunting and shoot it well but would be nice to practice with less recoil and lower ammo cost.
I would like scope suggestions as well.
Thanks in advance.

7-08 would be my 1st choice, 308.. 2nd, every 6.5cm I've ever owned in a hunting platform for whatever reason kicks harder than the other 2 calibers mentioned. Scope, been using vortex viper ffp scopes without issue for a long while and they are under 1k usually. Just found a vx3i on sale for 799, it is a ffp as well and is a great option, 8.5-25-50mm.

Cool set up. I want with the 6.5 norma with meopta .But u can't go wrong ur either!

I kinda feel like I'm part of a broken record on this thread........6.5 creed. The factory ammo is vast and most loads are tailored for accuracy. The cartridge was designed for the shooter that wants great accuracy, but has no desire to handload. Exactly what you asked for.
That said, the creed is far from the only choice.....308, 7mm08, 25 06, 6.5x55, 260, just to name a few. Creed will probably have more factory ammo choices than any of the above, with the possible exception going to the 308. The creed kicks less than the 308, at least in the examples I've tried.
I'm trying the athlon midas tac 6 24x50 and there is alot to like about it. Tracks great, clear on all powers, and build quality seems at least as good as any other scope in the price range. Street price is 550.00-600.00.

My suggestions are not going to be anything new but I might have some that you did not think about.
#1 would be the 6.5-06 (1:7" barrel twist) but you asked for factory rifles. this one might not be for you
#2 270 WSM or 270 Win (1:7" - 1:8" barrel twist)
#3 264 Win Mag (1:7" barrel twist)(recoil might be more than you want)
#4 30-06
#5 280 Rem AI
#6 7MM WSM/7MM SAUM
#7 25-06 or 257 Rob AI
the problem with some of these suggestions you need a heavy twist barrel for heavy slugs. factory barrels are only standard twist, nothing in the heavy twist barrels.

I would suggest these custom chamberings but you want a factory rifle. 260 Rem AI, 25-7MM R/M, 25-284 W/M, 6.5-284 W/M, 6.5 SAUM, 270 H.Express,

have you thought about Cooper or Montana rifle companies? they will chamber one of their rifles in most anything you want. it would definitely be higher end but it would be a "factory" rifle.

Since you already have the 300wm Any of the popular 6.5's would be my choice. Also I am a big 25-06 fan for medium game at that distance.

The 6MM CM and other 6MM's are getting a lot of press now , have a lot of friends that shoot them at 600 and 1,000 tournaments and love them in respect to accuracy and very mild recoil . HOWEVER they are not shooting factory ammo , all are serious reloaders and have been for 40 + years , I shoot the 6.5 Creedmoor but it is with reloads also , Fielders choice I would say , I will not argue over either of these or any other round you so choose to shoot for fun. Best to you brother this nothing but another opinion , do what brings you joy and be satisfied with your choice . JMHO

308, 30-06 or 25-06 no right or wrong I personally like a 30 cal round. The 300wm fits your criteria and you already own it. Spend the money on reloading lighter loads for it when practicing then juice them up for the hunt? But then again always nice to get a new rig! Browning x bolt would be a great fit with a nice 3-12x56 meoptra or Steiner scope for the 2k set up. Good luck on your search

IMHO - hard to beat the 7mm-08
