Hi all, been a while since I have posted here. I just put together an AR in 7.62x39. I've got some brass and some cfe223 that I'd like to use to work up a deer load for my sons. I'm thinking lighter and faster as opposed to heavier and slower but im open to all the good ideas and experience that the lrh community has. Have done some looking and found some 10 year old threads with this case and powder so I thought I'd revive the campfire here and see if there was any new data on powder and bullet choices. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'd suggest getting the Faxon .308 diameter barrel. Not too many .311 diameter bullets to play with. Hornady die set comes with both .308 and .311 ball for cases.
Don't buy Starline cases. Virgin cases are almost 3gr H20 under fully fire formed cases, at least in my barrel.
Wouldn't that just be a 300 Blackout?
If you can get a 135gr bullet running 2450FPS, 154gr bullet 2300FPS, or 190gr bullet running 1980 FPS out of a 16" 300 Blackout then yes. I'll let you do your own research. I'm running either Lil'Gun or Ram XTerm.

I don't reload for mine. I shoot PPU SP's and they are far more than accurate enough for plinking. Might try some and see if they'll shoot in yours.
Still shooting factory ammo in this rifle have not worked up a load yet. PPU shoots slightly

Will be loading these when I start hand loading

This should work great on deer and be fast and the bullet should fully penetrate. Id crimp them just enough to keep bullet from moving.
I use 101 gr hammersn in my 7x57 and no issues on deer
