Or, you could just get a 7x57 or 7-08 shooting 140's at 2900fps then your elk and moose is covered as well.1. Suppressor
2. Modern cartridge selections
3. Improved understanding of internal and external ballistics, advanced barrel construction, modern bullet design and advanced shooting ability made (most people) realize length for speed is an unnecessary trade off for most hunting applications.
A 180 at 2800fps kills just as dead as a 180 at 3000 fps under the majority of hunting ranges.
I have a dozen adequate hunting cartridges to choose from. For everything in North America, with the exception of probably Moose, Elk or large bear....my 18" 6.5 PRC will kill it all.
An 18" 7 SAUM will kill it all. An 18" 300 WSM will kill it all.
I don't need my 24" 7 Rem mag with a 180 hybrid to go 3100 fps when I can get a light, compact 18" system to send a similar bullet at 2800 from a 7 SAUM with a suppressor. Both are gonna kill anything you shoot with them.
Gimme a suppressed shorty every time

Big bears are potentially dangerous game so should always be respected as such when choosing the right combination of firearm, load and bullet.
