Meanwhile on RS they're killin bear, deer, elk , and moose with .223 and 77gr TMK.

I've read and seen a fair amount of kills with the 88's, but I haven't personally yet. Maybe this winter when I visit the South? I have so many of the 80's in both AMAX and ELD and some very accurate loads I trust, I just haven't put the 88's to the test.
Gonna try them on some pigs down there?

Do you know approximately how many fps they are traveling at the muzzle?

I've been lusting after a bolt action .223. But I might switch that to a 22-250 1-7" twist. I think I figured out a way to make SRP 22-250 cases. And an X Die will keep me from having to trim cases.

I am pushing the 80's in the 22-250AI at 3,400fps in a 26" barrel using 7828SSC, and the 88's in the 3,300fps range with same powder. Both can be driven faster, but the groups were not as tight. Very acceptable for deer/hog, but just not the tightest.

Thank you for the sitrep in the article, yeah... I wouldn't doubt it, the 5.56x45mm under the right circumstances punches way above its weight on flesh, I kind of wish they would've stated the cartridge bullet and weight, I'm betting it was a 5.56x45mm M193 55gr ball. 🤔 😉 Cheers
