I try to as well. In the early 1970's when I first ventured into skeet shooting I stumbled onto a fellow shooter that had a Charles Daly over/under skeet gun with 5 sets of barrels 12, 16, 20, 28 & .410 He sold it to me for $850. Those shotguns were made in Nankoku, Kōchi Prefecture, Japan by Miroku. They have been great and of extremely high quality. A part in the ejectors in the 28ga barrel set went bad, my smith got in touch with them, provided the serial numbers and he received the parts for free, from Japan in 2 weeks.
I have Remingtons, Savages, Winchesters, Rugers. In 1999 I walked into a shop in Central Pennsylvania and saw a SigArms 970SHR, Swiss made. Attractive piece, seemed well made, I jumped on it for $625. I put another $725 into a scope and I have my favorite hunting rifle in .270win. It is an excellent rifle, quality work. It shoots everything I have fed it extremely well. I also have a Browning T-bolt, and a Baretta O/U 12ga. So my safe has 4 foreign made firearms in it that I am proud to say I own. Not a single purchase I regret. At the time I made these purchases, do I wish I had a domestic option as well made at a similar price point, yes. But no such alternative was available. I don't notice the Remingtons, Savages, Winchesters, Rugers trying to get out of the way of their foreign neighbors. Heck, if we decided to only drive "ALL AMERICAN" cars or trucks, we'd be riding horses, or bicycles (which would probably not be made here). Yes I try to buy american, more manufacturing is coming back, and quality is improving, making the decision easier.
