LHT vs NX8

If I can afford it, I'll go with an NX8, however the LHT will be my backup. I'll be curious to see what others have to say as well.

Just don't drop the Vortex.

If weight is not a factor then don't bother with the LHT, that is its one and only selling point. Mushy controls, shiny finish, annoying illumination button, clumsy locking ring on the ocular lens for reticle focus, and a mediocre reticle.

I won't tell you to buy a NF either as I am not personally a fan of their products, but it comes down to those two I would pick NF.

Nx8 is a solid scope. Reliable, decent glass, feature packed for weight. LHT I have never used. It's a decent scope on paper, and weight is nice. However I'd personally never put a vortex on a hunting rifle as I need to know it'll function flawlessly in the field every time. For that reason I run the nx8 on all my hunting rifles.

I would take a trijicon tenmile or a rs1.2 over an lht

If price and weight is not a factor, have you looked at Tangent Theta? I believe a lot of people on here that own those swear by them. If that is too much of an expense, then I would drop down to Tract Toric , Night Force and Trijicon Tenmile.

I have both. Not enough time with the LHT yet, but it's been fine on my 6 ARC Howa Mini.

The NX8 is a great scope and likely what I will be putting on my 300 PRC build.

I don't get this. The LHT is the price/weight countermeasure to the standard optic.

The NX8 is a fine scope. Its purpose is toughness. It is just tougher than an LHT or many other optics.

LHT if you don't mind sending it in a time or two for repairs once you drop it.
NX8 and shouldn't ever have to worry about it. Took my LHT and have it now dedicated to a hunting 22lr. NX8 for my centerfire hunting rigs/harder use rifles.
I have had a hand full of vortex optics and not one of then has held up to my standards IMO, great for the price. I am slowly switch all my optics to trijicon, NF, and Stiener.

Nx8 is good to go, but buy a used one from a forum member if you can.
Nightforce has decided to sponsor and back a convicted poacher. And until they cease, I'd recommend not doing business with them and emailing their customer service to tell them why.

If you're talking about Bob Beck of Extreme Outer Limits I want to post his reply to his "conviction" and his "poaching" accusations. I still back Nightforce and have the highest respect for Bob Beck and wish I could accompany him and Chris on a hunt but, of course, that will probably never happen.
