I want a legit argument against an old trusted cartridge

I believe it is the best all around as far as a Hunting cartridge, I own one and I love it.

You can shoot both short to long range with it and it will take almost any game in the world, almost.

Not bad on the recoil and tons of ammo options available.

I also love my 7mm-08's but the Mag just reaches further. Again for "Hunting", I do consider it the best all around option.

I have one and I'm happy with it. It has worked well on everything I used it for.
I probably would take my 338LM for big bears but for anything else it will work!
I was really thinking on a 280AI but I can't justify the $$$ with really no gain in performance.

I'm a fan of the "big 7". Its one of my all time favorites. It lacks the horse power to push the big pills but it does well with 180s and under. My Remington 700 is pushing the 180 eld @ 2959 fps and has some pretty impressive down range performance!

Though I dont use either 7mag much anymore but they aint going anywhere. Seams i use the 6.5 ( Grendel, sweede and 6.5-284) more these days, less recoil and no shoulder to deal with.

When I was young and dumb I was about more power. Belted mags with no brakes. Then I got beat to crap, and realized it sucked. My 2 go to rifles are 257 weatherby mag, and 6.5x55. The 257 is probably loaded more like a 25-06 so it doesn't kick bad. The 6.5x55 is just a nice shooter. It has been doing 6.5 creedmoor stuff for about 90 years longer then the Creed.

7mm Rem Mag is a good gun too. That was my dads go to rifle.

Not sure I'd argue against the 7RM or '06.

I just think of cartridges like hammers. You can use a Sledge hammer for everything, but it isn't optimal. That's the beauty of a versatile selection of guns. Always grab the best tool for the job/circumstances.
Truth be told, many hunters could shoot a boring old 308 and be very well served.

I agree that the 7mag will do everything that the 28 nosler will...just not near as good and a whole lot more boring. As far as recoil goes I believe it just depends on the rifle. My 28 is a kitten compared to the browning 7 I had that every time you shot it you wanted to throw the **** thing on the ground it was so abusive. Think it just come down to what your comfortable and confident with.
