I thought I was tougher than this

@Mark37082 Know exactly how you feel. Wife and I are both getting over it. It's tough, but you will make a comeback.

It is a strange mess, mine was like the worst sinus infection in the world....my teeth even hurt. Only had a fever one day and it took about 10 days to get past it.

My wife brought it home from work (hospital) and it absolutely hammered her. 8 days with a fever above 101. She is in the third week of recovery and coming along now, but it is no joke.

Once you get moving you will come along, but just be careful not to push it too hard, too early.

First of all I have always thought I was reasonably tough individual. I have broken too many bones to count and survived some pretty nasty crashes that can come with racing and other activities in the great outdoors. Now I sitting on the sofa in a brain fog instead of in the deer woods due to this evil Covid thing. I dismissed the concern for long time. I was vaccinated, but no other real precautions.
Last Sunday I was packing all my hunting and camping gear and started to feel poorly. Well, long story short…4+ days of high fever and every symptom listed in the Covid 19 list later, I am finally able walk more than 20 feet without laying down. This virus ain't no joke. Now my wife has it, so my near term hunting adventures are all on hold.
I'll stop whining now. I hope everyone stays healthy and doesn't take the great outdoor adventures for granted.
Have you tried any of the brain vitamins (Vitamin B's)…or brain supplements?
How about caffeine? (In coffee form only)

Check out WebMD, if you get a chance.
Just enter brain vitamins/supplements.

Yeah it's so weird who it hits and leaves alone. Absolutley no rhyme or reason but the flu is no different that way I guess.

My wife got it pretty bad half a year ago and while she's fine she still has basically zero sense of smell. It's weird. Makes food not taste like much to her anymore either.

All four of my kids have got it more than once…my wife's had it, they've all been right in my face and quite ill and for whatever reason I've never caught it. It doesn't like me 😁😁😁😁😁

Get well soon and don't be too hard on yourself. No shortage of us who can probably shake off brutal injuries like they're minor flesh wounds but just HATE being sick!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We are living nearly parallel lives. My was was in ICU for 5 days and nearly died last September. Still zero smell and taste is weird. She lost 60% of her hair too, which looks OK to me now but she says is clearly thinner and rattier than it used to be. She is definitely a long hauler, but her fatigue and breathing issues have waned over time.

Our daughters have both had it - one once, one twice. Mild. Unlike you, I did get it when my wife had it. I was really tired for a couple days. 6 weeks later I hunted the Kaibab with my wife's blessing and the girls with her at home. No issues at elevation, considering I live at 1200'.

No vax for any of us. Her lead Dr., a cardiopulmonary guy, said same thing you opened with. No rhyme or reason on who it attacks in the lungs and really how everyone's body reacts to it.

Covid and Flu viruses live in your nose before being transported via mucous down toward your lungs. Viruses can not move like some bacteria can.
If you want to reduce the chance of an infection, wash/rinse your nose on a daily basis. There are things that help do that like a yetipot.com, or just use your fingers and warm running water. Gargle with salt water or mouth wash also helps.

Prayers coming your way for a fast recovery for both you and your wife.

Take care and hope you get out there soon

Hang in there, both of you. You can beat this. There are better days coming.
Wife and I both had the 4 shots of covid and practiced safety precautions fairly well without getting insanely paranoid.
Went on a canyon lands trip for 2 weeks (Grand Canyon to Badlands, Mount Rushmore and everything in between) came home and within 5 days I showed signs of Covid, 7 days later wife got it. Was a long 17 days in quarantine ( hers and mine) but we learned the value of life and a good partner. Now planning on fixing up and selling house to move to Tennessee. We are 80 and 75 are looking forward to the future adventure together.

The song says life is a highway, grab your partner and pick the road you want to travel.

To you all, be safe and well.

And now Boston University is doing gain of function (illegal) experiments and has developed a strain of covid with an 80% fatality rate. They say: "Oh, we are being safe". Well, I suppose Wuhan was too. Is it worth killing 80% of the worlds population?
They should be locked up... forever.

Good luck! This bug is somthing else
The wife and I have had three bouts with covid. As a diabetic it hits her harder every time but for me it has been much less every time? The daughter living with us has had the sniffles a couple times but not the same timeframe as us.

Thanks for all the best wishes and prayers. I sure hope and pray that this does not turn into to long Covid. It does put things in perspective and resets priorities. I am going to fight like hello to get my mojo back, but right now all I care about is making sure my wife recovers fully.
A really cruel side effect is my morning coffee now tastes terrible. This is one of those things that is adding insult to injury.

Hope your healing.

Hope your coffee improves, COVID is crap enough but Coffee is important. Messing with the coffee is another level of Crappy. It's a daily requirement

Praying for a speedy recovery for you both and the ability to enjoy coffee again.
Long Covid is something strange that tells me that this stuff was developed and not natural. I've had several symptoms for over a year since getting it like brain fog, fatigue. How many times has a normal cold or flu symptoms lasted months or years?
Take care and remember to drink plenty of fluids and lots of rest.

My niece had a stroke from Covid and is still recovering from it. That was about two years ago. Her stepdad had it about the same time and is still in a wheel chair. He can't use his lower limbs and deals with the brain fog effect also. So, I don't care what people say about it or their position on the vaccine or subsequent boosters I will do whatever it takes to not get it or minimize its effects.
