Just curious...
If you loved the Z8 so much, did you look at Swarovski's X5? It is MOA, a little heavier than the Z8, but still lighter than the ATACR. In this thread:
https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/swarovski-x5-vs-atacr-nsx.172530/
Len said he liked it better than his ATACR, FWTW
Also, probably a dumb question, but why is Mil for elevation a deal-breaker? That is what is on the older Swaro scope I've used elk hunting for years, and Shooter and other ballistic software gives me clicks based on the .36"/click. "Clicks is clicks" it seems to me (and the dead elk) but maybe I'm missing something. Maybe if you were shooting at something really small, or really far away where clicks .11moa smaller were needed(?). Just curious is all.
I honestly don't care what you pick (I don't sell anything), I've just been researching and buying some scopes lately myself and was enjoying reading the thread.
Oh, one final unrequested opinion - I know you're already having a tough time finding samples, and looking at any sample is better than nothing, if for no other reason than to experience size, weight, and feel in person. But, hard to judge scopes in a retail store, or in broad daylight mostly. It may be like finding a unicorn in your area, but some shops will let you take them outside (with an escort
), and if you show up after work with lower light, THEN you could really make a better $2000-$3000+ decision. Again, maybe impossible where you are...
