HOW LIGHT IS YOUR RIFLE

My lightest hunting/stalking rifles range between 7 1/2lbs to 8 1/2 lbs.
My pig rifle is lucky to be 6 1/2lbs loaded…16" 44Mag lever, holds 10 rounds.
My Precision rifles are far from lightweight.

Barrett Fieldcraft in either 6.5 or 6mm creedmoor with scope and ammo is 6.25 lbs. add a suppressor at 11 oz it is just 7.25 lbs. perfect all day carry rifle. Super accurate too.

My rifles range in weight from 6.5-14#. My most used hunter is a Cooper M52 in 6.5x284N at 10.5#.

I like 6.5-8-ish # in a non-magnum and 8.5-9.5# in a magnum while hunting afoot.

When talking ultralight rifles, I have and love several that are well under 7 lbs. scoped. They are a bit less forgiving, especially ones with rounded stock profiles. A well thought out stock design goes a long ways to make them more steady, comfortable, and shootable . With a break or suppressor, recoil isn't an issue.

Setting up a Kimber Montana in 30-06 for mountain hunting. 6 lbs 15 oz ready to go. Light enough for Colorado mountains IMO&E at 76 yo!

I was into the light rifle trend for awhile, but found that shoot-ability is more important than lightweight. My lightest is 7.2 pounds scoped and that's for a 6.5 PRC…a lighter recoiling rifle for me. My .375 HH is 8.5 pounds scoped and that one shoots real good for me. I'm having a .300 PRC built now that I would have to think will weigh 9-ish pounds scoped.

My Ultra Light Arms in 270 is a bit over "All Up" (scoped, loaded, sling) the barrel is 24" it mics .62" at the muzzle. This is about perfect for me.

Like others I have lighter guns but they're darn tough to shoot consistently well once the range goes beyond 300 or so.

I can but don't like to carry anything over 9 "all up" anymore.

On demand shootability is first and formost for me

There are some really light rifles it now, but my impression is the majority of guys on here are building heavier rifles.

Not counting 22LR's, they run the gambit from 5 1/2 lbs to over 15 lbs. I have a couple of bench/varmint rifles that well exceed the 15 lb mark.

Mine range from 7.5- 12 pounds scoped.
Weatherby Ultralight 270 and recently acquired Springfield Redline 308 are my lightest.
Then come the model Sevens and 700's on up.

I have a 280AI that's right at 7# scoped with ammo ready to hunt. But it doesn't get used much. Most of my rifles are in the 9-11 pound range.
