Have you had success getting Nosler ABLR bullets to group well?

So if I set them to 2.800 SAAMI length my jump would be somewhere around .100". And even at 2.850 I am below the shoulder/body junction so I am encroaching on powder space and it would be worse if I set them deeper.

Yeah, it sounds like you're at a point where a change needs to be made in either bullet or powder selection, because the RL26/ABLR combo isn't getting you where you want to be. 7828SSC or 4831SC maybe, or Superperformance since it's a ball powder.

MM, by chance have you tried other seating depths and how sensitive are your rifles to the same?

I've been wanting to try 150 AB and ABLR in my 270 bee ... glad to hear that your's does well with the latter (maybe all of that freebore can be useful).

I played with the seating depth by going .050" shorter than mag length and worked back to max mag length. It made a difference, but not a lot.
This is what I do with all Weatherby chamberings. There's just no point trying to get to the rifling and they shoot well anyway. Both my 375Bee and 340Bee have 1/2" throats. They get very high velocities in relation to a 3/8" freebore. My 300Bee has the 3/8" throat.
It's not the rifle that's sensitive it's the bullet themselves.

What jump did you find yours preferred and what caliber?

The only way I got anything close to usable for my application was shooting them 100 thou off in my 6.5 PRC. I tried the 175s in my 7mm LRM with no good results. I could get .6-.7 in groups at 100 yards with the 6.5 but the ditched the bullet because everything else shot so good. Never shot them at long range.

If so please post your method. I've shot hundreds of these things in various calibers and I just cannot get them to produce what I consider an acceptable group. I really want to run these bullets because they should be an excellent hunting bullet and I get outstanding velocities with them in all my rifles. I just havent found the magic trick to good groups with these yet.

This is yesterday's example. 260AI with a 24" 7.5 twist Brux barrel. This barrel will hammer .25 MOA groups all day long with 140 Berger VLD hunting bullets. The shots below are (5) 5 round groups in a ladder increasing .3 grains at each target. The only one I deem even somewhat acceptable is the center target And I know the gun is much more capable than that.

A little, 150 ablr in 7mmRM.

I have had pretty good luck so far in loading the 142 ABLR's in 6.5 CM.

These are some of my work up targets from last summer. Shot at 200 yards.

I think they definitely show promise, and I am hoping to get in the .3 MOA range consistently.

I am still working up in charge weight, as I was not super impressed with the velo's I was getting (2750's), but I'm also not trying to get 3k out of these, so when I have more time on my hands I am going to continue the work-up and would be happy at 2850-ish.

Keep in mind that my initial results were with virgin brass, so I expect to be able to get more velocity & more consistent results on the second firing of this brass.

I got what I would consider mid-process into these loadings, but had to focus on some other long range rifles and issues last year, so I have yet to re-visit these. Again, I'd say that I was overall very happy with them, and believe that they show good/great promise.

My 10T shoots factory winchester Expedition 142s a little less than .75 Moa out to 500. Guess these savage barrels kinda like the 142s! Havnt reloaded any yet because I still have a few boxes that I only hunt with.

Sounds like I need to start at SAAMI length and work back toward the lands. I'll have to drop down to 3 shot groups so not to burn up the few hundred I have with load development.

In my 6.5-284, I started out .005 off the lands and worked back to .120 off. I ended up at .058 off, using H4831SC. A 5 shot group between a dime and nickel. Finally just called that "Good Enough" 1-8twist Kriegr, 26.5" @ 2930 FPS Over the LabRadar. Took way to long to find a load that would work. 142gr ABLR

The 175 lrab work awesome in my 280 AI and 7 Saums . Dozen elk out to 705 yards have all been one shot kills shooting them from 3015 to 3040 fps depending on rifle. Shoot 210 lrab in 300 prc with rl26 and they have shot well out 1200 yards . 210 bullet performance was good on elk at 30 yards running them at 3130 fps . Glad I wasn't shooting a Berger !!! . 190 ABLR from 30 nosler, 5 shots each seating depth. 77.5g H4831 and Rem 91/2m primers and 2.828 CBTO for the center group, CCI250 for the others at 2.848 (bot left) and 2.838 (bot rgt). Best I've go these to shoot so far and after re-bedding the rifle. Shot some 178 eldx and 200g Speer Grand slam after the bedding job and they shot 3/4-1" groups.

All of the input here is great, but the truth is not one single rifle will shoot the same as the next. It's all about harmonics. The only thing you can do is node test on seat depth. That said, as many here have stated before and I will agree with. Some bullets are more finicky than others and these tend to be on the trickier side of things. Good luck.

The groups on my OP were seated .050 off the lands because I had heard that's where they like to be.

.050 is where I had to start. That works well for my 338. I think my 270 and 6.5 are loaded a little further back. I would say find what load works the best at .050 and then begin to try moving it back away from the lands in .005 -.01 increments until you find where your gun likes them. Starting at .05 worked best for me in the above rifles but I am running the 150s in a short barreled 7-08 that I have yet to get 1/2 moa from. Started out using factory coal which is a good bit more than .05 off the lands in that gun and haven't had a chance to try anything else. .050 made the difference for me before that I was pushing them .01-.02 off the lands and couldn't get them to shoot less than 1.5 moa. They are finicky but once you get them dialed in they will shoot

I've got them to shoot I several guns. Sometimes they're finiky other times not.

I have a couple groups with different calibers that in my opinion rock, and I wouldn't hesitate to use these all the time but I haven't been able to find more of them!
